Bathroom Baskets

May 25th, 2007 @ 12:57 pm by Mrs. Snow Pea

I briefly worked on our bathroom baskets this week. I am just trying to get as many of the little things done, so I am not scrambling at the last minute. We went to Target and picked up a few things.

Not shown are the Peony lotion and body spray from Bath & Body Works to go with my peony centerpieces and bouquet. I still have to throw some ribbon around the basket and a sign saying “Hey don’t steal any of this stuff”. silly06 I also need to buy a small sewing kit, clear nail polish and panty liners.

They aren’t as “fancy” as I had intended, but I am officially in the “I don’t care anymore” phase of the wedding planning. Anyone else part of that club yet?

the stuff that was definitely used from our bathroom baskets were the feminine products, bobby pins, and safety pins. Most of the stuff gor used actually!

Our venue coordinator advised us to skip the men’s room basket because they never use it. The women’s room basket was used a little. Don’t worry too much about this project. Highly skip-able compared to other higher priority tasks.

Someone recently suggested gum for the baskets — sounds like a good one!

I’m about at the same level of not caring as you are: instead of making Pretty and Matching and Labor Intensive my theme, I’m gravitating more toward Quick and Straightforward and Good Enough.

I have to keep reminding myself that people really just do not care about what matches what. They really don’t! Yet one of my projects today is to check the ink color I ordered for the thank-you notes, as though everyone’s going to hold them up to their invitations, slowly shake their heads, and go “tsk tsk…such a lovely wedding, and she completely ruined it by not checking her ink colors.”

On an unrelated note: Listerine Strips.

I would go ahead and open up the products in boxes or with safety labels. People would be more likely to use them if they’re easy to use/open. No one wants to be that first person to tear something apart.

Good call Mrs. Bee, I forgot bobby pins and safety pins. I have gum! I just forgot to put it in the basket. I will open the packaging. I just didn’t want to do it so soon just yet. Yes, I am providing cups for the scope.

hi miss snow pea! i had a question for ya - i noticed that your wedding will be in August. Where are you getting your peonies from?

Hi Didi,

My florist is Designs By Rose in Queens. They had the most affordable prices for the flowers I wanted orchids and peonies. Most of all they could get peonies which as you know is a rarity for August!

If you’ve been looking at florists and they can’t get you peonies, I suggest checking out another florist. The first florist I went to couldn’t get her hands on peonies either. They just have different suppliers ya know and some can and some can’t.

I hope that helps.

I am so with you! I went shopping for our baskets yesterday and I too threw out my silly idea of having all matching pretty products. It just isn’t worth it at this point. The bathroom baskets are value added items anyway so who cares what it looks like. This is one area where it really truly is the thought that counts. Besides, even if I had made the basket all matchy with my colours it wouldn’t match the bathroom decor! Sometimes you just gotta let it go…
