Steals and Deals and Bears, Oh My!

May 30th, 2007 @ 3:24 pm by Mrs. Emerald

A good 5 months ago, I posted about wanting my ring bearer and flower girl to walk down the aisle carrying teddy bears. Unfortunately, I hadn’t been able to find any bears to my liking, so I eventually forgot/dismissed this idea entirely. BUT a recent stroll through the chocolate aisles of Macy’s led me to this adorable find for a mere $8.50 each (originally $24, I think)!!

Now I’m never one to walk away from a good deal, and besides, these were too cute to pass up. You can’t tell from the picture but they are pretty decent sized (about 13 or 14 inches long) and super soft and cuddly. They both came with the blue grosgrain ribbon, but I replaced one with a pink satin ribbon for my little flower girl, Cyd. And as you can see, they also came with a little present for MOI (mmmm, Frango!!!) winky

Now I just have to figure out how to attach the rings to the bear… with another ribbon? Or maybe make a tiny ring pillow and somehow attach it to the bear’s hands? Any ideas? Also, are you having your ring bearer (if you have one) carry the REAL rings, or some fakes?

Very cute!!! I still have no idea what the flower girl is going to carry! I was thinking of having the ring bearer carry the actual rings. Is that a bad idea? Mr. Kiwi is afraid he won’t want to give them up, though!

Those are so freakin’ adorable. I see blatant imitation in my future…

i would say have the bestman hold on to the ring, and when the actual ceremony takes place have them secure it to the pillow/bear right before they walk down the aisles with the ringbear. for something that valuable and important, it’s not fair to hand that responsibility to children.

I think having the bear hold the ring pillow is a really cute idea, but make sure it’s not going anywere once you attach it.

You could possibly tie the rings around the neck of the bear and having them slightly hanging down the center.
I don’t trust my crazy 4yr old godson to carry the real rings! So he gets the fake ones!
As for my flowergirl, she will only be 1 1/2yrs old and I’m thinking of putting her in a wagon and having the 2nd ringbearer pull her! I’ve seen this before and it was adorable! In that case, she probably wouldn’t hold anything and just have a mess of follow petals around her!

Precious! We had our flower girl carry a teddy bear as well- it was so sweet- she was very nervous so she squeezed it the whole way down the aisle and on the way back she was whispering to it- all caught on video of course- too cute! As far as the rings, we didn’t let our little man carry those- we left them to our MOH and BM to keep track of

BTW, Frango fans — All the chocolates are on clearance right after major chocolate holidays (Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, etc.). Same goes for Godiva. Tastes just as good the day after, only the packaging (sometimes just the bow colors) change.

i used bears for my RB and FG. i got them from build-a-bear. they have ringpillows at build-a-bear for a few bucks that loops onto the bear’s paws. i would suggest you going there to get one if you have one in your area.

my RB was only 4 yrs old but i tied the rings onto the pillow and had no problems w/ it. hope that helps!!

We have a recording (on LP!) of my parents’ wedding, and when the minister asks for the rings, there’s a long pause followed by *pop* *pop* as the best man pulls the (real) rings off the ring bearer’s pillow: each had one thin thread sewing them on.
