Hi everyone!
First we had bugs, then flowers, then fruits and veggies. Now we’re happy to announce that our next batch of characters is…. candy!
Why candy you ask? Candy buffets are a wedding trend that’s been going strong for a couple years now and they show no sign of slowing down. Plus they’ll make such cute weddingbee characters!
We have a whopping 9 bees getting married in June and July - Miss Bell Pepper, Pumpkin, Bluebell, Plum, Tomato, Raspberry, Hibiscus, Pearl, Lemon. We’ll miss them all, but we need to add new bees like crazy now.
Miss Lovebug and I have come up with the following candy characters so far:
What would you add to this list? (Keep in mind, it can’t be anything copyrighted, which eliminates a lot of possibilities.)
Hi, my name is Miss Lime, and I am a blog-stalker. Not only am I a blog-stalker, I’m often a yellowbellied cowardly one that anonymously subscribes to RSS feeds, rarely comments these days (mostly due to this madness called wedding planning), and leaves not much more than a footprint on the webcounter/stats tracker, if the blog has one.
Anyway, my current eye candy is housemartin, the blog of ink & peat, a Portland-area floral & home decor/lifestyle store (Mrs. Bee also featured them earlier this year). While some of her home ideas are a bit too…country (not sure if that’s the right word, still)…for my taste (albeit still well done and beautifully eclectic), I’m drooling over her florals. They’re organic yet not overgrown or shabby looking, fresh yet classic and not overly trendy. I’m also loving yellow right now, and she brings fun flowers and some fresh yellow together in these arrangements.

Mr. Pumpkin and I had our joint shower in his hometown this weekend and it was an absolute blast! As I blogged about earlier, the hostesses are the moms of all of the kids in town who are the same age as Mr. Pumpkin, so they all know both of us really well and the embarrassing/secret stories all came out! They told stories that even our moms didn’t know about, and we were all just rolling in laughter. Mr. Pumpkin even showed up in his Sunday best (I was a little worried that he would show up wearing a t-shirt with skulls or profanity on it) and the hostesses made me, my Mom, his Mom and his Grandmom very pretty corsages. I couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon! It was, in every way, the perfect shower.
I’m starting to think I’m a hog. No, not a pig, but a hogger of things. Take the remote, for instance. Although I try to put on shows I think Mr. Kiwi and I will both like, he seems to think that I’m a remote hogger. Well! It’s not my fault I get home first. He also seems to think I hog the couch. Hey - it’s more comfortable in the middle!
So, this brings me to our cake tasting. I love cake. Especially chocolate cake with buttercream. Mr. Kiwi isn’t a cake fan, and seems to like fresh fruit in his cakes. He has asked me to do the cake tasting by myself (well, technically with his mom who is a cake connoisseur), and to just decide what we’re having.
If there are good parts to wedding planning, this is definitely it- I get to taste a variety of cakes! How cool is that? So, with a few designs run by Mr. Kiwi, this cake is my creation. I can have the chocolate cake with chocolate chip filling, and white buttercream. Or maybe a marble cake with chocolate mousse filling… Or, I could be the greatest wife to be and get the white cake with strawberries and whipped cream.

I was working on my guestbook last weekend (decided to go with mypublisher) when I had the idea of incorporating quotes throughout the book. After some web searching, here are a few of my favorites:
To Be One With Each Other
What greater thing is there for two human souls
than to feel that they are joined together to strengthen
each other in all labor, to minister to each other in all sorrow,
to share with each other in all gladness,
to be one with each other in the
silent unspoken memories?
-George Eliot
The strongest and sweetest songs yet remain to be sung.
- Walt Whitman
The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved, loved for ourselves, or rather loved in spite of ourselves.
-Victor Hugo
I FINALLY have all of my vendors booked with only 4 weeks to go. ![]()
I chose Gyros String Quartet as my ceremony musicians based upon their years of experience, their professionalism, prompt responses, the fact that they put my mind at ease, and although I did not use it, they also offer the convenience of paying with credit card via PayPal, which is another great feature.
They have a fantastic website that has actual clips of them performing live and a large repertoire to choose from - I highly suggest visiting their site, if not only to help you decide what songs you want your dj and/or musicians to play for the ceremony (processional, recessional, candle-lighting ceremony, etc.).

We went to Flushing last weekend to pick up my qipao. The dress looks beautiful but there was one problem with the dress. It didn’t fit like a glove anymore! I lost some weight around my bum and it surprised everyone including myself. I didn’t see much of a weight change recently but I did notice my pants were getting looser around the hips. Perhaps I gained more muscle and lost some fat? Oh well, it was kind of hilarious because everyone was staring at that specific area of my body in such shock! The tailor kindly altered my dress again and within two hours the dress was finally finished.
A few close-up detail shots of my qipao:

If someone used the phrase “eco-friendly honeymoon”, what would you picture? Would it be this?:

I hardly EVER wear lipstick. And even though I love lip gloss, I generally forget to put it on. BUT, on my wedding day, I want gorgeous, peachy-pink, shiny lips. However, regular lipstick topped off with regular gloss is out of the question. The other night, the amazing makeup artist I met at Macy’s Bobbi Brown counter applied some Rum Raisin lipstick on me, and while the color was perfect, it smudged on everything!! I don’t want to get anywhere near Mr.E’s ivory shirt with lipstick on. So now the search is on for a longwear lipcolor/gloss. Here is what I’ve come up with. And as usual, I’d love your input on your favorites!!
a) Revlon ColorStay - one end is a long-lasting lipcolor (up to 12 hours they say), and the other end is a moisturizing gloss. Price: Under $10

I am totally not bitter about the fact that it is impossible for me to have chiavari chairs at my wedding. I am sooooo okay with it. Really, I am fine with it. I could care less. There are so many more important issues in the world today than whether or not Miss Pumpkin has pretty chairs at her wedding. I didn’t really want those ceremony programs from MS Weddings that hang on the sides of the chairs by cute little ribbon loops.
I’m trying to use these little daily affirmations to help me get over the fact that I can’t have my coveted chiavari chairs at my wedding. Do you think it’s working? Me neither…
One of the hardest parts of wedding planning for me has been accepting the fact that there are some options that are just not possible for me. Flipping through MS Weddings or InStyle is sometimes painful because I know that the set-ups featured in them are just not offered in my neck of the woods. Chiavari chairs are one of those thing that I would be willing to splurge on but there just isn’t anyone around here who offers them to rent.
These are the best options available to me:

Non-profit, charity-driven websites rock. Especially when they feature toast. Lots and lots of toast.
Your Name On Toast is this really cool site where you can “buy” an actual piece of toast on which the publishers will then write/draw on with a Sharpie anything you like. They’ll put your name, the name of your company, a stick figure–whatever you want–and the toast will act as a link to your website.
The higher your bid, the more prominently your toast will be placed on the site. All proceeds will be going to charities which the users of the site get to decide on. Examples of toast:
