You guys loved Threadless when we blogged about them in the past, so we thought we’d let you know that they’re having a Summer Vacation sale where every t-shirt is $10 through June 3rd. 6 new and reprinted tees will also be added daily. I always get compliments on the shirts I picked up the last time they had a $10 sale, so I’m gonna pick up a couple more including the doodlebug t-shirt below.

Threadless tees are unique (and affordable!) gifts for your bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girl, or ring bearer. I like this war and peas one for Miss Snow Pea! ![]()
This morning I received a request for an update on my KP arms. Oddly enough, as I was showering yesterday (sorry for the mental image), I thought to myself, “Hm… definite improvement. Must blog about this.”
After dutifully using this daily for almost two months, I can say that my arms are a bit smoother. It helps to exfoliate constantly as well, but so far so good. Even Mr. Kiwi has commented on how smooth my arms are now, which is cool, since he usually doesn’t notice things like that.
Although I purchased KP Duty, I’m sure you could buy another lotion that is cheaper and easier to find (like Lucerin) with alpha-hydroxy acids in it.
So, with a few more months left, my arms are smoother, yet still slightly scarred from my battles with KP and eczema. Perhaps I should find something with alpha-hydroxy, vitamin E, and cocoa butter as well! Either that, or get a shawl.

I can’t seem to find an exact picture of it online, but it is very similar to this dress, also by Nicole Miller Signature:

Imagine it strapless, with more ruching, and a deeper scarlet red color. It’s supposed to arrive tomorrow at my house, so we’ll see - the first dress they mailed to me had a defective zipper!
I had to bring it back to Neiman’s yesterday to get them to overnight me a new dress - eek - hope it arrives in time!
Anyways, I am so excited!
P.S. The wedding is exactly ONE month from today! ![]()
Our reception is being held in a big white tent on the deck of a restaurant. While it will be decorated and lit by strings of white lights, I was worried that it would still be too white from about 8 feet and up. When I was originally planning I loved these pictures (from MS Weddings and The Knot respectively):

I just found out that my fab photographer, Dennis Lee, finally has a blog! His first-ever entry featured our engagement pictures and was dedicated to me, cuz apparently I was the one who finally got him seriously thinking about starting a blog. YAY, I’m glad that I inspire people, haha
. So check it out!

Dearly beloved. May have found STDs. Very cute telegram stationery from 16 Sparrows. Customizable. Totally unique. Telegraph-speak dangerously addictive. Could spill over to invitations. FMIL would not approve. Will keep posted.

Mr. Kiwi is a no-fuss kind of guy. His primping routine includes: shower, shave, brush teeth, put in contacts. On the rare occasion (between haircuts) he may use a squidge of gel, but that’s it. Sometimes he uses a splash of cologne, but since I’m not a fan of the cologne he likes, he usually doesn’t bother.
I’m sort of the same way- in the morning I wake up, put my (usually still wet from the night before’s shower) hair into a messy bun and brush my teeth. Makeup usually isn’t applied, and if it is, it’s at around noon when I’m bored and need something to do. The wedding day look will most likely have lipstick, blush, eye shadow, liner and mascara. Perhaps a set of false eyelashes since I think they look cool. That’s about it.
When I asked Mr. Kiwi if he was planning on doing anything different to himself for the wedding day, he said no. Then, “Yes. I want to have my back done.” Done? He wants (don’t tell him I told you) a full spa treatment for his back- exfoliating, moisturizing, waxing… the whole shebang. Isn’t that cute (and a little gross)?
I didn’t buy my reception dress until 2 weeks before the wedding. It was a close one but I had very specific criteria: it had to be long, it had to be lace and it had to be pink and brown. I was about to give up when I randomly spotted the puuurrrfect dress in Group USA at Jersey Garden Outlet Mall. It was barely $100 and met every one of my criteria. It fit but was a bit long so seamstress Papa stepped in again and hemmed the dress as best he could which, wasn’t easy considering its caught-in-a-shredder-look.

Miss Lovebug recently said that she wants to move to Canada because of all of our cute wedding traditions. Well, I think it’s only fair to fill her, and you, in on everything before she makes that rash decision. I fear she may change her mind after hearing this one…
One of my least favorite traditions at wedding dances around here (maybe this happens in other parts of Canada and the US as well, but I *think* this is unique to Saskatchewan) is the Bride/Groom dance with all of the members of the opposite sex at the wedding.
In most cases the female guests will request “I’m Too Sexy” or some similar song and then form a circle on the dance floor with the Groom in the middle and take turns dancing with him and removing articles of his clothing! You can’t see me right now but I too am shaking my head in disbelief, even though I have seen it many many times. It never gets to the point where they remove his pants but it gets close sometimes. Crazy.
Something fun for lovers of all things vintage: a downloadable, original phonograph recording of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, recorded in 1909. It has all that wonderful, grainy static–what a twist to play it at a modern wedding.
In fact, I love the idea of having and using a real phonograph at a wedding; an old record would sound especially cool for something like the garter dance/toss. Not to mention what a beautiful addition it would be to the decor (I love mixing modern and antique furnishings.) Surprisingly, I found a few models on eBay going for a few hundred dollars or less.
But if you’re not into investing in the whole antique shebang, the horns are a kick in themselves–perfectly faded and charming, they can be found on eBay for less than $50:

I bought all of our candy buffet containers many months ago, and since then they have sitting in my closet collecting dust. Yesterday I decided to bring them out and start to work on the candy buffet project. I brought out all the containers and my fiance and I were surprised how many containers we had - I purchased 12 containers?! They were all so pretty and it was kind of addicting to buy because they were so affordable and I found so many unique designs. I think out of all the containers these two are my favorites, both were only $7.99 and I couldn’t just buy one of them! I love how the bases of these jars look - they are so tall and elegant, and allows you to put something cute inside like a small flower.

I’d like to thank all the readers who had given me the advice to just sit back and relax at my Church-Sponsored marriage prep class. I took your advice and really enjoyed myself. The morning began at 8:45am, and although hard to be bright and bushy-tailed after a late Dodger game the night before (Go Big Blue!), I was still a little nervous.
Our comfortable cushions in hand, we were led to the gym, and then down into the basement. A little grumpy at spending $70.00 for eight hours of what I thought was going to be the typical church fare of God-speak, I collected our packets of information and stuck on our nametags. There was a spread of bagels, donuts, fruit salad, coffee, juice and water; enough to sustain us until our lunch break.
As I perused our workbook and family planning pamphlets, I took a good look at the rest of the 30-some couples around us. At nine o’clock, the presentations got underway. We had two couples who were kindly spending their day helping us to learn to communicate and work together, taking time out of their day for this, and I would pay attention. At one point, the priest at the church we were at came in and gave a long talk, uncomfortably filled with the most politically incorrect stories, complete with the words “Negro”, “retarded” and “drunk”. The talk soon became less hysterical as he told us the different ways marriage could fail. He talked of young couples newly married, when one “dropped dead three weeks into the marriage” or when the wife soon finds her husband to be less than kind. This talk really brought the group down as a whole. You don’t expect to enter a marriage prep class being told marriage is all great times and easy streets, but to be separated into parts and told that “that side over there, in numbers, won’t have their marriage work out” was a shock.
