Garden Party

June 4th, 2007 @ 3:20 pm by Mrs. Lemon

We were lucky to spend our Saturday at the beautiful garden party wedding of our friends Rob (one of Mr. Lemon’s groomsman) and Victoria on Saturday evening here in LA. The event was held in the valley in her mother’s lush and expansive backyard, with greens elements and garden themes throughout.

Now since we got engaged only six days apart, our wedding plans have been intricately linked throughout the last year. If I had to pick one little pet project of hers, I’d pick her amazing seating cards and display:

That’s real grass in there!!

Detailed picture of the painted rocks. Your table number was on the back of each rock (as shown by #12).

Everyone was “ooh-ing & aww-ing” over them, as they were set-up on an upper deck near the appetizers and the bar. It fit perfectly into the decor and looked like it just belonged there.

Victoria also had wonderful green touches on her dress (Carolina Herrera) and since she bought it at a trunk show, they custom-made a veil for her with the same green ribbon edging on the dress. Their cake also had the ribbon wrapped on it… and everything just seemed to flow perfectly together.

Instead of favors, they opted for the popular RedCheese photobooth which they set-up in the driveway of the house. There was a constant line for photos all night, and we only got to take a couple strips…but I saw people walking around with tons of them so I know they got their money’s worth. The quality of the photos was really great, however, and they even included a little link at the bottom to download your strip online.

We opted for black and white

My camera was acting up so I didn’t get many more photos before the sun went down, but the scene was lit with tiki torches in the foliage and floating candles in the landscaped stream and in the pool (which only two people ended up in by the end of the night). It was hard to realize that it was just her mom’s backyard when we left (since it underwent drastic transformations from ceremony time to cocktail hour to dinner hour to dessert), which means they pulled off the perfect backyard wedding. Congrats you two and enjoy Greece!!!

It’s a good thing I didn’t go to this wedding because I WOULD HAVE KIDNAPPED THAT RING BEARER!!!!

That’s so exciting! It looked great :) We’re having a backyard wedding and I have to say it’s a lot of hard work, but hers sounded very elegant.

tto– I’ve seen ‘em for $1200 to $2000. It usually includes delivery, prints, and a certain number of hours of use.

I just googled “photobooth rental” and there seem to be companies across the country.

The photobooth pictures came out GREAT! I love the idea of having one, but I don’t think it is in our price range, although maybe if we did it in lieu of favors…
It definitely seems like it would be a lot of fun for the guests!

I looked into redcheese at the beginning of my wedding planning and I if I recall correctly, their 4 hour package starts at $1395 with upgrades for pictures on CD rom, and duplicates, online viewing, etc. Great idea, but out of my budget.

I love this idea and threw it out to my boyfriend. I said, “If there is one thing I will splurge on for my wedding it’ll be a photobooth!” This just reinforces it useful and wonderful accent to any occassion.

We just booked redcheese for our wedding after experiencing it at a friends. I was on the fence about getting one because of the price, but once I tried it, I was totally sold. There was a crowd around the booth whole night and the guestbook & CD of pictures she received are just priceless. I looked terrible in the photgrapher’s pictures, but the lighting in the booth is really flattering. My fiance said I looked “much younger” than I usually do. Not sure if that was a compliment or not!! :-)

Yay! Hi Ms Lemon…writing you from our 5 hour layover on our way home. Of course I’m thrilled that you enjoyed yourself at our wedding and I love that you put Zane in your blog, I don’t blame Ms Lovebug at all for wanting to kidnap him…

The RedCheese booth was about $1400 flat for 4hours with operator, plus $150 for a CD ROM with all the photos on it. It was definitely a splurge and something I tried to talk myself out of for 9 months, but I gave in and we couldn’t be happier that we did it.

See you soon!
Mrs. F
