Brunch Pics

June 5th, 2007 @ 4:28 pm by Mrs. Blueberry

Here are some snapshots from the day-after brunch.

It was just what we wanted–a casual affair with our close friends and relatives, the opportunity to unwind, eat some yummy leftovers (and Krispy Kreme!!!), and celebrate in a very relaxed way. I think everyone had a great time smiley104 Everyone met at my parents’ house around 11:00, where Mom and Dad had set out leftovers from the day before, plus doughnuts, bagels, fruit, OJ, and coffee.

Near the end of things, people started urging us to open our wedding gifts–so of course we obliged.

I’m only putting this one up because the look on Mr. Blueberry’s mom’s face cracks me up:

Part of the spread. We were really, truly floored by everyone’s generosity!

“Yay baking pans!” “Yay tissue!” Mr. Blueberry gets little pleasure in life smiley401

z919703

“Ooh, something to make and store brownies in!” “I like brownies.”

z919705

“Ooh, something to make and store cakes in!” “I like cakes, too.”

Cardinals stadium seats from one of my favorite high school teachers. She also gave us a World Series bottle opener, and a Cards doormat smiley503

Me and Mom holding up one of our absolute *favorite* wedding gifts: a double wedding ring quilt made by all the women in my family! Even Olivia helped–she scribbled on the back patch just a bit.

Close-up of the back patch, with everyone’s names and the date:

Isn’t it gorgeous?!

But that wasn’t the only beautiful quilt we were given that day. My grandma (a professional quilter) also made us this one:

Isn’t it astounding? Grandma made a “Lone Star” (that’s this pattern) for all her other grandkids as they graduated high school. But for whatever reason mine never got done, so I got it now. Worth waiting for!!!

Well, now you all know where I got my crafty gene smiley104.

And if you’re still considering whether or not to have a brunch…we definitely recommend it! It really was a great time smiley104

Wow! Those quilts are beautiful. I grew up in a quilting area, but my family never got the gene, somehow. We are more of the crochet variety. :)
Definitely having a brunch the day after! I know I’ll be too busy/in a whirlwind to really get to see people on the actual wedding day.

Too bad we have to leave at like 8am the next morning to drive 5 hours to take off on our honeymoon cruise!

My grandma made us one of her famous knitted afghans as a wedding gift right before she died. Waaaaah, still makes me sad.

The Lone Star quilt is GORGEOUS! I am definitely in awe of your grandmother’s skills.
I always loved the look of quilts and thought I would be decent at quilting, but I can’t picture quilts fitting into my home — my tastes are too modern. But yours are beautiful enough that I might be changing my mind!
What a wonderful wedding gift — something you will always treasure, much more so than a cake caddy. :)

I love your quilts!! They are beautiful in so many ways. Definitely an heirloom to be. I was really bummed out when we got married because my MIL told us she’ll make us a quilt (she’s an avid quilter) for our wedding present but never heard about it again. I’m one of those people that takes things to heart, but I’ve learned during our engagement period that she’s not really great at following through. I especially love the back patch!
