Final Designs For Candy Buffet

June 5th, 2007 @ 5:48 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

I’m packing up the candy buffet today! There are about 12 containers to pack; luckily we have a lot of boxes from Crate & Barrel and they have really nice packing supplies for glass containers. My caterer said he will provide about a 48-inch table for our buffet. This table in the photo is about the same size, and I think the space a bit tight for all of them. I’ll send him this photo and see if he can provide a larger table. As recommended by all the readers, I took away most of the ribbons and the containers do look nice without extra embellishments. I might take away all the ribbons entirely and just add a few lavender paper flowers in between the containers:

Candy scoopers: I found these at William Sonoma and Bed Bath and Beyond. I tied a lavender polka dot ribbon to each to add a little color.

I made this design way before thinking about our wedding theme and colors. The coffee bags are from PaperMart, and hold about 1/2 pound of candy each. I found a brown basket from Home Goods for $4.99 and spray painted it gold. I think that’s all the details we’ll add to the candy buffet for now!

What if instead of adding length to the table you add height? I’ve heard a great tip is to somehow find a way to raise the back row higher. You can use anything to make the back higher and then just drap a pretty cloth over the whole thing. Then it’s a little more broken up visually, and you don’t have to take up any more room spatially!

I love kandaceandjason’s idea — you see the same thing even for fruit/veggie/cheese displays to make the food arrangement nicer and to appear larger.

I saw jars like these at Home Goods, They have a variety of sizes , shapes and colors and the prices are reasonable.

I like the candy buffet the way that you have it set up. I prefer the look of fullness rather than have everything spread out and looking sparse.

will those scoopers be able to scoop in all of those jars… if not… make sure you put candy you can grab with your hands.

We are also doing a candy buffet, however we are going to borrow the glass containers from friends and relatives. Unless you have something to use them for later, it may be something you don’t have to spend money on. Also you can get stainless steel scoopers at a restaurant supply store for around $2. I am in Chicago, so we have a variety of options. Hope this helps.

I am having a poolside “Cabana Day” the day before the wedding in place of a rehearsal dinner and I would like to have a candy buffet there, but therefore I need plastic containers instead of glass ( pool rules) Does anyone know where I can get equally stylish plastic containers?
