MIA

June 8th, 2007 @ 10:33 am by Mrs. Raspberry

I really am not MIA - I have just been super busy getting a few of the last minute projects completed before the wedding. Here are a couple of teaser pics of things I have been working on…

Escort Cards (we will still have placecards at the table) - each guest will get a little envelope with their name on it. Inside will be a picture of the DC Icon Table that they are sitting at, with the icon’s name on the back of it.

Rehearsal Dinner Invites - these are finished and checked off the list. We are also inviting all of the out of town guests to come for groom’s cake and drinks after the dinner - those invitations are not finished…

and these have cute little envelopes, with cute little labels…

I still feel like I have so many DIY projects that are nowhere near finished!

For example:

place cards
menus
programs
rehearsal dinner dessert invites
bridesmaid tea invites
out-of-town bags
map for OOT bags
welcome note for OOT bags
sign displaying where each table is

I do not have any idea how people work full-time and plan a wedding! I think the only reason I haven’t lost my sanity is because in working from home, I can work late and run around doing wedding errands during the day.

Have you given up on DIY projects because you are just running out of time?

I like the gold printing on the escort card. Where did you find that? I am looking for a similar design.

I created the design for the escort cards… The gold printing is from the gocco….

My company does invitation design as well as monograms.

I have loved all of your stationery so far…. I, too, am a designer and I am dying to start my own business doing custom invites and stationery. Not sure if it’s wise to do so 15 months before my wedding, but I’ve got the bug! It’s nice to hear that having your own business has actually helped you in the wedding planning process. I guess flexibility is key!

I am doing almost the same thing for the escort card! But instead of mini envelopes, I am using mini thumb cut sleeves.

I’m losing my marbles having a full-time job and planning everything on my own, and we’re still 8 weeks out.

My mom just offered to help with the RD table cards and escort cards. Hallelujah.

Yes, while working full-time I was planning the entire wedding (with about 10% help from fiance and mom) and I had to give up a lot of DIY ideas. Almost everything DIY, in fact. But, the tradeoff was that with a full-time paycheck, I could afford to outsource to someone who could do it better and more efficiently than me, and still come out ahead financially.

Well I am two months away and I have about 4 DIY projects left but they are big ones:
Programs
ring pillow
guest favors
Flower girl dress sash (ok not so big but still important)
I am going to try and knock off at least 2 (pillow and the favors) of these this weekend.
I just dont want to be that bride that is up until 4am the night before assembling programs. NO THANK YOU!

I like how the Rehearsal dinner invites match the color of your icon!

I simplified some things, dropped some, and delegated some. Most of the simplified or dropped stuff is stuff no one is going to miss anyway. Like I’m not doing a menu at all. Hey, it’s a buffet–walk on up there and flippin’ look. Ooh! Maybe I should just print that!

I’m with Iris — full time job, but DIY goes out the window. I had great dreams of wedding creativity but had to be honest with myself about what I had time for and what would drive me crazy. In the end, my mental health was DEFINITELY worth the outsourcing.

I love your rehearsal dinner invites! Where did you get the silverware art. I can’t seem to find anything that isn’t cartoonish.
Truely beautiful stuff

I know this is old, but where did you find the purple paper? I’ve had such a hard time finding darker purple. Thanks!
