About Mrs. Bluebell

A very very long time ago, I blogged about my ideas for an outdoor aisle runner. Reader LL suggested I try bamboo runners, which were also the kind Mrs. Grasshopper linked me to in a knot bio, and I was sold. I went to Pearl River and bought a couple of these and thought I was set.

But…over New Year’s we took them up to our wedding site and found that they covered not even a third of the length we wanted. After many many many trips back to Pearl River and even more obsessive internet stalking, I finally came to accept that they were permanently out of stock. Which meant…starting over.

Finally, this past weekend, I went back to Pearl River with my mom…and we bit the bullet! I got six of these babies and not only will they be long enough overall, they’re also much wider, so we’ll actually be able to walk side by side during the recessional! laughin09 (seriously, I was going to make him walk in the grass next to me so my dress could hopefully stay on the too-skinny bamboo mat)

What kind of aisle runner are you using if you have an outdoor wedding?  Is anyone using something really original for their runner?

no aisle runner for us as a lot of times it just becomes a tripping hazard on grass. we’re just lining the aisle in petals and river rock (a nice, solid line of each on either side of the aisle a la some images in r. jack balthazar’s portfolio).

I like the river rock idea! How are you dealing with elderly guests and tripping hazards?

I intended to walk on bare sand for our wedding but lately my fiance has been suggesting a runner since he likes some of the fabric ones that people DIY.

I have no idea what we’ll end up with. I am trying to keep everything simple since we are traveling out of country and I do not want to have to bring a bunch of wedding supplies with us.

We’re skipping the runner for our outdoor ceremony on grass, but lining the aisle with rose petals.

At one of the outdoor venues we looked at, the coordinator suggested white carpet (because heels can poke through and tear through some of the more delicate runners)

I’m thinking about using burlap :) Cheap, rustic and still cool looking!

I love this idea! Keeping it simple and effective.

Mrs. July

I am having an outdoor wedding in July. Our wedding party will be walking across grass and then onto the dance floor (which for logistical reasons and money, will serve for both the ceremony and dance floor once the chairs are removed) before we get married.

Is it tacky not to have an isle runner, and to walk across the dance floor? Clunkity, clunk!
