What To Do With My Hair…

June 11th, 2007 @ 12:30 pm by Mrs. Corn

Well, I have my first hair trial today. Here are some photos I am bringing along for inspiration:

Half up/Half down:

(and yes, I am bringing in Miss Pumpkin for inspiration icon_wink.gif)

Here are some pretty looks that aren’t as severe as some of the fully up-do’s I have seen out there…but I am not sure my hair is long enough.

Miss Corn–I’ve been battling the same issue. But, after seeing the last photo from Getty Images, I think I’ll add it to my collection (which consists of 1 photo!). I have long hair–just below my shoulder blade. To wear it half up and half down is not an option that I’ve seen… Too bad I cannot wear a baseball cap with my veil!

I like a little something going on in the front, too.

I had my trial done last weekend and brought the photo of the girl on the left side of your photo collage. My hair is several inches past my shoulders, and I ended up with a huge headful of curls that didn’t look much like the photo at all. I think the key to that style is the little bun at the bottom which my stylist overlooked. Good luck with your choice!

I was debating between half up/half down and all the way up as well….until one of my friends (already married), mentioned to me that one of her regrets about her wedding was not wearing her hair up…granted she got married in the dead of summer (I’m getting married in Sept too!), but she said after less than an hour of dancing, she was a sweaty wet mess, hair plastered to her face and neck, and not very comfortable (nor pretty I imagine). Now I didn’t ask her how frenetically she was dancing (I intend to dance at my wedding, but not necessarily boogie WAY down). But after her story, I’m now leaning towards all the way up. Just my 2 cents! Good luck!

I thought about getting hot and wanting desperately to pull my hair back, but I decided to go with the 1/2 up, 1/2 down for a few reasons…

1) I ALWAYS wear my hair in a ponytail, so I want something that frames my face differently

2) I don’t have enough hair for the lower pictures in the collage

3) I have fuzz around my hair line at the base of my neck that will definitely not be tamed by anyone and I don’t want it making an appearance in any wedding photos…so 1/2 and 1/2 it is…

and for the record, there are slim-to-no options/pictures of 1/2 up/down dos out there…it took weeks to find these!

Jessica Simpson and Carmen Electra both had 1/2 up, 1/2 down hairstyles on their wedding days. You might want to google for their wedding pictures.

Except, maybe just don’t tell your fiance the name of the celebrity inspiring the wedding style unless the celebrity has a stellar marriage. Let’s just say it was a big mistake to ever slip that I was looking for a Heather Mills style dress! Ha!

I am similar to you in that I overheat easily and I also have some baby hairs at the base of my hairline/neck area and I will be pulling my half-up coif into a phony pony–just a ponytail, really, with the help of a friend who will be there who is also a hairdresser. I know not everyone’s that lucky, but after your big dances (if you do them) dinner, etc. you could always do a little low pony. :-) Check out my blog and slick the tag, “hair.” for some examples of those! :-)
