About Mrs. Strawberry

Bow Chicka Bow Bow…

June 13th, 2007 @ 6:25 pm by Mrs. Strawberry

The wedding night hotel is my latest obsession. I love free stuff–be it designer shampoo or chocolate covered strawberries. These things weight heavily on my decision as to where to stay. Here are a few contenders we’re looking at:

Hotel Monaco: Modern, bright and fun,

  • L’Occitane amenities available in all guest rooms and suites
  • Complimentary pet goldfish delivered to your guestroom upon request
  • Fun animal print robes
  • 2 person Jacuzzi Tub

11 1

The Edgewater: Rustic Lodge Luxury

  • Claim to fame: The Beattles stayed here
  • Views of the distant Olympic Mountains and Elliott Bay. In fact, many rooms, you can fish right from your window!12

The Fairmont Olympic Hotel: Classic and refined.

    2

    1

Hotel 1000: Modern and warm with a technological edge.

  • Technologically savvy hotel with an intelligent private bar that tells staff when you need refills.
  • Sony LCD Television
  • Two person pedestal tub with water flow from CEILING!
  • Intelligent artwork based on individual preferences.21

I’d like to stay somewhere fairly nice, cause when else in our life are we going to!

Hi Miss Strawberry, I’m getting married in Seattle too & have loads of advice. I’ll post as these boxes allow…

Hotel Monaco - haven’t stayed there in 3-4 years but it was very nice and cozy. I’d recommend it more to a late fall or winter bride because the rooms don’t get a lot of sunlight and just feels TOO isolated from the rest of our beautiful city.

The Edgewater - my parents just stayed here in a Jr. Suite (we were going to have our reception there). Everything is in great condition (I’m a stickler for worn furniture), nice soaps/baths, great views, and great people. But…

Ooh, I’m lovin’ the Hotel Monaco photos! Lovely! I was also really drawn to the outside patio image overlooking the water at the Edgewater, but don’t like the room, and I’m guessin’ you’ll be spending more time in the room if ya know what I mean, wink wink! I personally wouldn’t pick the Hotel 1000, it seems a bit cold, but hey that’s just me. Go wherever makes you happy :)

    I vote for Hotel 1000!!!
I was thinking about suggesting the Woodmark in Kirkland (which, evidently I’m still suggesting) but I like the idea of staying downtown. Oh, and I vote no for the Edgewater only because I know of a LOT of people that have gone there for their honeymoon night and I wouldn’t want you to be one of “a few” newlyweds. You’ve gotta be the ONLY ones. Although there is no guarunteeing that, I guess. Oh well. :) It’s pretty though. But I do vote AGAINST the Fairmont. The room is very “busy” looking. :(

(PS were you on early this past weekend? I could have sworn I heard you at 1pm on Saturday)

… Cruise ships can be a bit closer than you’d like when you throw open the curtains in the morning.

The Fairmont Olympic. Haven’t been since the Fairmont took over from the Four Seasons, so I can’t say. It wasn’t in the best condition then.

Hotel 1000. This is where we’re staying! The rooms are modern yet comfortable with decent views. Their Molton Brown soaps are great (he’ll like them too). The intelligent art is cheesy, but you can also play virtual golf in the basement. Also, we’ve found this to be the best “value” (in a relative sense, clearly) if you want a suite in this town.

Have fun choosing, they are all great places! Also check out the Inn at the Market, although last I was there they were a little rude — they used to be the BEST.

Hey thanks fellow seattle brides! Iam starting to look at hotels too! I am leaning towards the westin or the hyatt. But now I will have to look into Hotel 1000.

That complimentary pet goldfish thing is so random…pretty weird and cool at the same time haha. They all look so nice! And I don’t know how (or why!) I would go about telling you where you should stay on your wedding night so I’m not going to “vote” for anything. =P

I stayed at the Fairmont Olympic a couple years ago. Nothing to complain about, but I’m not sure the price was entirely justified.

I’d probably pick the Edgewater. In that vein, have you been to the Salish Lodge? We stayed in a relatively unfancy room, but it was luxurious and we loved the bathroom and fireplace. The waterfall is very romantic in the evening.

I’d take the Hotel Monaco just for the goldfish! Haha.

Like all the other Seattle brides, I’ve been looking at hotels too. My friends stayed at the Monaco for their honeymoon and liked it, it was a lovely room. Myself, I was considering the Fairmont Olympic but the Hotel 1000 looks extremely lovely!

I like the way Hotel 1000 looks and that tub sounds awesome. I want an excuse to drive up there just for that.

The Portland Hotel Monaco (same chain) was on our short list. We wound up going with Hotel DeLuxe. I guess their Seattle sister is Hotel Max? Came highly recommended by the ladies on my local knot and by reviews on Trip Advisor. We took about 2 days to really research our options.

I’d recommend getting opinions those two places yourself. Great resources. Oh, and Hotel Max (http://www.hotelmaxseattle.com/)looks cool if you want to add to the dilema.

Another thought on this, especially if the budget is tight — Unless you are getting to the hotel room particularly early/sober, and get to sleep in long enough to enjoy it the next morning (i.e., no early flight or early family brunch obligation), it’s not so crazy to just do a simple basic crash hotel on the first night and save the “good” hotel for a night/day you will have a better opportunity to enjoy the amenities.

Glad it’s not just me that finds the goldfish ever so slightly odd… It’s like they were compiling a list of freebies…. dressing gown… check… chocolates… check…. wine…. check…. smellies… check… hang on something’s missing. what could it be? I know, we’ll throw in a fish.
    Err why?
well, you know, fish, the traditional symbol of unity, long term relationships and love.

    And funfairs.

I’m getting married in DC in October and we’re spending our wedding night at Hotel Monaco (we’re also doing a room block there). They’ve been great to work with so far!

Good choices! I also looked at Hotel 1000 but after visiting a room, felt it was bit too…cold, if that makes sense. The bathtub thing is really cool though. In the end, we went with the Grand Hyatt since we got a hotel block there and also got a fabulous deal on a suite.

i had my bachlorette party at hotel 1000, and it was so great! it’s really new and i love that the bathroom wall is just a sheet of glass, so you can watch tv from the tub! hahaha.. i didn’t actually do that, but yes it’s an option. well the peeping-tom bathroom has many “options” for your wedding night….
