Father’s Day is right around the corner, bringing with it the usual challenge of finding something special for your father. But for those of you who are engaged, Sunday also presents a great opportunity to do something thoughtful for your future father-in-law, too.
However, it can be tricky enough to think of something for your own dad. So what do you think? Will you be giving your FFIL a present? If so, what?

Sorry to be so glum.
Nothing. He’s chosen not to be a part of our life. Sorry to be so glum.
I looked all over for a “future mother-in-law” card and couldn’t find a one (not just one I liked…there were non to be found)…so I didn’t even bother looking for my FFIL.
Coffee - the man loves coffee. Always has a cup in his hand.
I was so stressed out about Mother’s Day that I ended up doing nothing (ugh! but it would have seemed like sucking up), and now it would be odd to do something for Father’s Day.
I don’t think that is really necessary. I doubt he would expect anything like that anyways…You could always just sign whatever card your fiance gives him. : )
I’m piggybacking on whatever my fiance gets him, which is generally how we do gifts for our parents. For his parents, he picks the gift and spends a little more than if it were from just him, and we give it as a gift from both of us. When it’s gift-giving time for my parents, I pick the gifts and it is from both of us.
i just called my mom and she said my dad would like a gift certificate to borders or home depot. done! 
we got him a Tommy Bahama shirt and LL Bean shorts for their trip to Hawaii next month. He’ll be styling in flower prints. -)
For my dad he will be getting the DVD “father of the bride” and a work shirt and I will make dinner or something. Mostly just spend time together.
oh and nothing for the FFIL. I love him but I didnt do anything for mothers day for FMIL so I am going to skip him this year too. But next year I will redeem myself!
Nada for FFIL, his birthday is on fathers day this year, so he will get a card…my dad will get flowers (he is in heaven) from me. My hubby to be (aka our son’s daddy) is getting really nice tickets to an upcoming twins game from his son
FFIL-Movies, something for the yard, and we’re taking him out to dinner
DAD- Constuction boots, Dirt biking accessories, taking him out to dinner
My FI does almost zilch for his own parents for Mothers/Fathers Day…
And I always feel totally bad following his lead (I love being a gift-giver with my parents), but also totally uncomfortable being the only one to step up to the plate…
My father is dead, but I always get my FFIL something, since I’ve been his “pseudo-daughter-in-law” for years. We share the same taste in books (which his son, alas, won’t read despite our repeated praises) so I usually get him a book.
We always do something for his dad, and I look forward to it every year. This year it’s a Phillies game on Father’s Day.
I’ll be giving my dad a digital picture frame. I want to upload it ahead of time with my wedding pictures, but I won’t get the files in time. So for now I am downloading it with a bunch of family pictures that I have to show him what it can do and will download the wedding pictures later.
My FIL? He’s a simple man, loves flowers.
my dad asked for titleist pro v1 golf balls so i’m getting those for him and also my father in law. i think im also going to get them both royal jelly…i’ve heard that korean parents love it these days…
Yikes, my FI is bad at giving his parents gifts, so if I stepped in an upped the ante (I’m a very good gift giver, and ahem, also very modest) they would totally know that their son isn’t getting their gifts anymore….so nothing for FFIL. Well, a phone call. (Also, good point that I didn’t do anything for FMIL on Mother’s Day!) There’s always next year, and the year after that, and the year after….
My dad got a NANO last year and doesn’t know how to use it. I’m filling it with his favorite bands and buying him a car adapter so he can listen on his way to work.
I am going to get my FIL a giftcard to his favorite lunchtime restaurant - I think he’s going to love it. He likes presents that he can use.
FFIL - We got him an XM radio and subscription. (he lives 12 hours away)
My Dad - A digital picture frame and we’re taking him to Boston and P.F. Chang’s for lunch on Sunday! (he lives 40 minutes away)
