Stamps

June 13th, 2007 @ 5:34 pm by Mrs. Corn

Well, I jumped on the stamp-wagon and decided to invest in stamps that matched the wedding rather than cut my losses and get a bunch of stamps I don’t like.

Here are the stamps I designed on Zazzle.

For the response cards and shower & wedding thank-you cards, I made a graphic and used that to customize the stamp:

My invitations themselves are 7″ x 7″ and are going to cost $.97 each to mail. Now, I am not exactly sure how it is that the post office has a $.97 option for mailing something and no one in the great wide world carries it (which then means I have no choice but to put TWO stamps on my pretty envelopes)…but I am done arguing, so I just made a $.41 and a $.58 stamp on Zazzle and tried my best to coordinate them. I figure it is a nice way to give our guests a sneek peek on what to expect:

I am not convinced I love them, but they are already ordered so I guess I am married to ’em (hee hee…I kill me).

Anyone else making a custom stamp and what do they look like?

I love custom stamps!! We used an e-pic on ours and people are keeping the rsvp envelope and sending back their rsvp’s in a new envelope just to keep the stamp!

I broke down too — I just couldn’t have a panther on my rsvp postcard! Ha ha (only something a bride would care about).

I’m really happy with how our zazzle stamps came out. here they are: http://tinyurl.com/35l6dz

I made two — one for the invite and the other for the RSVP — I don’t have enough for all the TY notes, but I’ll pick and choose who they go to (is that terrible?) and everyone else will get a regular stamp. By then the “wedding stamps” should be back at the USPS!

I’m a hella cheap bee, so I couldn’t justify the extra cost for a first class stamp.

I decided to buy the old wedding stamps…the 63 cent one will work for my 2-ounce invitation (since it’s now only 58 cents), and the 39 cent one is getting combined with a silver coffeepot stamp (it’s kinda vintage-ish, right?) to make 43 cents or something like that.

I wonder how visible the lobster outline is going to be once it is postmarked?

My invitations were $0.97 each as well and I was too lazy to put two stamps. I just put the $1 stamp, paid a little more and saved time and sanity.

There’s a cool $1 Wisdom stamp featuring artwork that is incorporated into the external architecture of Rockefeller Center. Very art deco. (The phrase — on the building but not on the stamp — comes from Isaiah 33:6.)

Thanks Miss Corn! I’m glad you liked them. Zazzle really was a great way to go and it really wasn’t THAT much more expensive b/c for our 70 guests we only have 45 invitations to mail all 1 oz first class ($.41).

I totally agree with you ….how in the world can the post office charge $0.97 to to mail when they don’t even carry the stamps for it. Zazzle only has up to $0.92 before it jumps to $1.31. I am in the exact same situation as you …. so I know how you’re feeling {sigh}
Are we being too picky about all the details, hahaa ……

Ladies–

If you sign up for ebates.com first, and then click on zazzle, you can get a 6% cash rebate from your stamp order that ebates will then send to you via paypal at the end of the month. This is a FANTASTIC site, with similar cash rebates for Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus, etc, and you don’t have to pay any fee to sign up.
