I’ve been engaged since September 2004. All I kept hearing from everyone was, “You are so ahead of the game”, “You have so much time to plan”, and “Your wedding is so long from now.” Now, I’m in major panic mode with three weeks left. Since I’ve graduated, I have nothing to do all day except wedding stuff. For some reason far less is being accomplished. My to do list just keeps getting longer and longer, and every time I cross something off, three more things get added. Every time I ask someone to help out, they agree enthusiastically and then enlist my help to the point where I do 90% of it anyway. I asked my FMIL to do the rehearsal dinner invitations. She bought them, told me what colors to use to print them out and then passed out on the office couch. So, I ended up doing them.
Mr. Hibiscus is driving me nuts, haha. I asked him to send an invitation to a family friend, so he goes to his mother, but she doesn’t know the address. End of story. He comes back to me saying he couldn’t send it. I asked him did he ever think to call around to get the address from somewhere else or even call the family friend. He didn’t have an answer. Ugh. I really don’t ask for much. I know a lot of my stress is I take on too much because I don’t want to bother other people. And, the few times I’ve put myself out there to ask, I’ve been burned. So, nothing is getting done because I’m too overwhelmed. My bridesmaids are all in different cities. I’m going crazy. And don’t get me started on the lack of RSVPs from his side of the family. “Our family doesn’t do well with that.” Um…..okay. We have a postcard and a website or just call for pete’s sake. The good thing is it’s only the “details” that need to be done on my part: the slideshow, programs, little signs, table names, favor tags, seating chart, menus, petal toss cones…. etc. I know if I don’t get them finished, people wouldn’t be the wiser. Except, I would know and I’d be sad. Haha.
I have my final vendor meetings next week, which means I’m driving to Southern California this weekend. But not all my vendors are available next week, so I’m doing some over the phone and the week of the wedding. Yikes! I can’t wait until all of this is over and I’m married, relaxing on the beach at our honeymoon.
I’ll probably miss wedding planning then.
