Hair Trial

June 14th, 2007 @ 10:57 am by Mrs. Corn

My hairdresser of choice, who I have been seeing for so long I now consider him a friend, was supposed to fly up from FL to do my hair for the wedding. Unfortunately, those plans aren’t going to work anymore and with only three months left until the big day, I now find myself looking for someone to do my hair for the wedding. Making this search even more complicated is the fact that I live 90 minutes away from Newport, so I have to not only find someone who is available, but who can come and do everyone’s hair at the condo we are renting to get ready in.

The woman who is doing my makeup helped me find someone to do my hair, and today I met with Meredith at Bangs salon in Cranston, RI and had my first hair trial.

Meredith was so nice and I loved talking to her about what I wanted. She is newly engaged herself, so it was fun to chat and compare notes. Meredith didn’t do too much hair spraying today in case we wanted to play around with it, and on the day of it will be more polished, but I really like it. Even better, Mr Corn likes it :)

I am so, so relieved to have this taken care of and I am incredibly thankful to my make-up artist for her sleuth work!! I will have to post about the make-up trial soon because it was a great experience, too.

Pretty!!

I have a hair-trial question for the group - am I off my rocker to have my hair trial two weeks before my wedding? I just met my wedding-day stylist and got my hair cut on Tuesday, and made a trial appointment. Is there a reason that some of y’all are having trials months in advance? Is it just to check it off the list?

Hi KDN…I have to admit, I wasn’t planning to have a trial months in advance until I became a weddingbee reader. I also thought my friend was doing my hair, so I figured a few weeks ahead of time would be fine. When I found out he couldn’t come, I kicked the search into high gear, mosty because almost everyone I have contacted is already booked and I need someone to travel to me. I figured I should make sure I liked what they could do before I booked them, hence the trial this far out from the wedding.

If you already have your stylist, than you should be fine to have your trial a few weeks out.

KDN, I never even had a hair trial. It’s just a nice-to-have.

Thanks for the feedback, ladies!! For a second there I thought perhaps I was missing something. I definitely need a hair trial, as my first experience with my stylist was Tuesday, but hopefully one will suffice and I’ll love it.

It looks like she tied your hair in a bow, almost. Impressive!

No trial here, either. I just trusted someone who was recommended. Florida is a long way to go just for a hair trial… (if you live in Oklahoma, that is.)

Your hair looks great, and I have to say that the color and shine of your hair is gorgeous! Are the reddish highlights natural? That’s a great style to show off your hair!

Oh BA, you are way. too. kind. Everything about my air is aunatural…except that I usually get it “anti-curled”. This is a process that eliminates the very tight wave that you can kind of see near my scalp in the last hair picture before the veil shots. I haven’t had it done in a year, because I got it done by someone OTHER than my usual hair dresser and she over worked my corners and my hair fell out. It has been steadily growing back, but I have these lovely tufts of hair that like to stick out of my head at entirely inconvenient times. Fortunately, I was born with enough hair for 4 people, so what didn’t break, covers it up.

Anyway, thanks for the props.

I had my hair trial 3 wks before my wedding. I was already planning to have my hair and makeup done by my reg hair stylist, but she’s never done up my hair and makeup before. She said she freelances doing wedding hair and makeup at their house. The trial was good but in the coming weeks I kept looking at the pictures and at week before my wedding decided I didn’t like it and emailed my stylist with other ideas I researched. Then on the day of she just made up something that I really loved!
