About Mrs. Strawberry

Evidently, being anal retentive is bad. Evidently, I should be looking at the bigger picture. Well, I don’t want to and you can’t make me! smiley1021  My bouquet wrap has become increasingly important to me. I’m always on the hunt for interesting and different ways to make my flowers really pop. (If you have any ideas and pictures…send them my way!)

My bouquet will resemble this one.

I’m thinking pink ribbon or eyelet. Nothing shiny. I order the above ribbon from Martha, because, well Martha can do no wrong. I’m thinking I might have that be the base and then wrap this dupioni around it with little jagged bows or knots. Does that even make sense?

I also ordered these two brooches on ebay to play around with.

And finally, here are a few pictures that I’ve been using for inspiration.

yes please! I made a bouquet for a friends wedding and bought these little beaded bracelets to try and wrap it with over the ribbon. Sadly, they were way too bulky and hard to grip! So just remember that you actually have to hold the flowers and leave room for your hand! These are beautiful :)

So pretty!

But take it from me, be SO SPECIFIC with your florist. Mine kept agreeing with everything I said, and said, “Sure”. but I was really shocked when I saw the b/m bouquets because she used white peonies and I asked for pink. Little stuff like that can throw a bride off. If there are changes you’d like to know about, ask your florist in advance. My florist was supposed to be the best in Minneapolis, but she was not so hot IMO.

I am using an family heirloom to give my flowers some pop. Plus my florist had some really great ideas too.

I love it…

That bouquet you are basing yours on from Martha magazine is from the same article that I based mine on :)

Wrap w/ monogrammed vintage (or vintage-looking) handkerchief? Some have colored detailing.

Bonus: Absorbent cotton for sweaty hands! Also bonus if it unwraps fairly easily (maybe one hanky tacked on, and another one softly wrapped & removeable) in case you or DH need it mid-ceremony.

What about a striped ribbon? They make some pretty candy-striped ribbons in pastel colors, I think they’d look great with the cameo. Kind of old-fashioned soda shop meets victorian kitsch.
