Hearts Stamps!

June 16th, 2007 @ 12:08 pm by Mrs. Orchid

Just in time for late summer and fall weddings, the USPS has announced their “Wedding Hearts” series of Stamps. These babies will be available in Post Offices starting June 27, 2007.  So RUN don’t walk to your nearest post office! :)

The Wedding Hearts stamps will be available in two denominations to cover both the one-ounce and the two-ounce mailing rates. Each one-ounce stamp is intended for use on the RSVP envelope often enclosed with a wedding invitation. Each two-ounce stamp will accommodate the heavier weight of a wedding invitation with enclosures. The stamps will be issued in booklet form containing 20 one-ounce and 20 two-ounce First-Class stamps.

They come in pink and purple.

i was pretty excited about that too…except my invitation is a large 7×7 square shape which means they calculate by measurement and it’ll cost 97 cents to mail! so how does two 41cents stamps, plus a 10 and 5 cent stamp sound? the clerk said with my first visit last month. thank god the other post office in the next town over had the sunset stamp worth 75 cents so all i needed was to add the butterfly worth 24 cents (so i lost out on 2 cents per). 2 pretty stamps better than 4 ugly ones.

Our invitations are simple, the DIY kind that you buy in a kit and then print on your home computer. We won’t need 58s, so I don’t really want to buy these if I’m not going to use half the booklet. Too bad though, they are cute.

Call it a difference in taste but I hate these.

Not sure if you, lily, were who I said this to before, but for 97 cents you should consider the $1 wisdom stamp for USPS online…you prob can’t get them at the post pffice but you can buy them online.

The postal service really needed to execute the whole rate change a lot better - when we bought our stamps we knew we were doing it ahead of time and were assured that there was no rate change coming. Then when they did change the rates they only put out $0.41 HELLO - what about all the letters that weigh more than that. Ugh.

We did the print-your-own invitation thing, and only need the .41 stamp. However, our invites need to go out Monday (the 18th). So we didn’t wait around for these puppies, we just used the flag stamp. Boring, but oh well. No one remembers the envelope anyway.

I don’t think that the stamps are horrible. But I do think that I agree with Amanda saying that who remembers the envelopes anyways…. Again, that is my own opinion.

Good to know. Either last year’s green or these new pink ones will do.

How can the USPS be sooooo behind what colors are most popular for weddings? Why don’t they make them in a really neutral color instead?

I don’t mind the stamps, but my invitations are going out next week! I don’t know what we’ll end up with :-)
