Purse Happy

June 19th, 2007 @ 4:58 pm by Mrs. Eggplant

While debating over an evening purse for the wedding, I wanted to purchase something that wouldn’t sit in the closet and gather dust after the vows were over. My choices were narrowed to silver, pink, or baby blue silk. Silver won out as an elegant alternative to white since it was versatile enough to be used for any evening soiree.

I ordered this knotted clutch by Franchi from Zappos and I loved it so much that I had to share more of their lovely creations (prices are listed below each picture and most purses can be found on Zappos).Purse Happy : wedding san francisco Z92604408 Franchi - 108
$108.95 (but I can’t find this one online anymore so it might be out of stock)

Lynette Crystal Framed Clutch for $198.95. The rhinestones are lovely on this little clutch.

A slightly less expensive option: Franchi’s Jewel Too Clutch - $138.95

Very pretty clutches - but out my budget! I’m shooting for one of the clutches from Target’s new bridal line (and in the $25 or less range :-p)

Amanda: Agreed! It’s used 6 hours. Vintage or borrowed works just fine. The wedding day purse spends most of its day in the car or stashed under a table. Bouquet + purse + champagne glass = spilled champagne! : )

I love the blue ones, but you guys are right a little pricey for a purse that you probably won’t use again. If you go out a lot though it’s a worthy investment.

I wish there were more uses for a wedding purse since they’re so pretty but alas I can’t justify even buying a cheap one since I’ll probably just leave it in the dressing room anyways………

Yes, I agree with you all, a bit pricey! I figured I’d splurge since Mr. Eggplant and I will be moving to SF come January and we’ll be having lots of nights out on the town and I’ll have many nights out with my SF girlfriends a la “sex in the city” :-)

Oops, and I meant to add that ebags[dot]com has a bunch of cute clutches for around $20-30 by La Regale!

My clutch had two feet and wore a dress ;) With lugging the bouquet around an additional item to carry around would have driven me nuts. What are you going to put in your clutch that your MOH can’t carry? Will your MOH carry your clutch more than you will? Should you get a clutch that looks good with *her* dress?

Miss Eggplant: I love San Fran lucky you! I agree. If you’re going to be out a lot it’s worth the splurge :)

HC: Funny! It’s true, though. Hands are busy dancing and hugging! I’d have been happy to be purseless, but, alas, gotta put the lipstick and Rx somewhere.

For the wedding, chances are the OCD WB bride has an emergency kit. And for the reception, any other “emergency” supplies can be used from the reception restroom basket.

Hey, they should make a bridal fanny pack! Or a rucksack!

I have expensive tastes too — I just can’t afford it :-P If you can treat yourself with something nice, why not?

If you’re not in the market for a $200 clutch, why not consider a practical pocket-garter from Juliette?

No affiliation to me, just thought I’d toss it out as a fun purse alternative.

I have the Judith clutch in white. Bought it from perfectdetails.com. I ordered an ivory one but it definitely looks more white than ivory. You can buy similar looking clutches for less on ebay.

Saw some $20 ones at Aldo - shockingly cute since the place merges on fun and trashy….

You should check out perfectdetails.com. They have the jewel too for less, and they have the Judith and the first purse with the bow for less as well. They also offer the bow and Judith in ivory - ideal for weddings. Remember zappos says free shipping, but it is all in the price.
