Bridesmaid Gifts

June 20th, 2007 @ 3:29 pm by Mrs. Eggplant

After many months of deliberation, I finally figured out what I’m going to get my girls as gifts! Well, at least part of the gift anyway.

If you’re one of my bridesmaids, stop reading please!… I mean it! smiley1031

I really wanted to give the gals a gift that would be attractive, useful, and something I could personalize at least a little bit. Earlier this year, my company gave our HR department some really neat messenger bags by a brand called Timbuk2. The bag was spacious, durable, and pretty cool looking too. I’ve been using mine nearly every day.

Well, I checked out the Timbuk2 website today and low and behold, the messenger bag comes in five different sizes and can be customized in 23 different colors with up to three colors per bag. Or for $15 less, they also have predesigned color palettes available in all sizes. Timbuk2 also sells backpacks, totes, laptop bags, and other accessories.

Now I don’t want to give the girls an empty bag, so I just need a little something to put inside of these carriers. Perhaps a handmade journal, some bath salts, or a pair of fuzzy bunny slippers? Do you guys have any suggestions? I know this question has been asked a billion times, but what did you get your bridesmaids?

I am in love with my bridesmaids’ gifts. I got them each a custom made leather clutch from Shana at SML bags http://smlbags.com/#.
Inside each bag I put Sniffs tissues that match my wedding theme (damask), and mirror mints. My two maids of honour got a little something extra–personalized silver lockets. The bridal party gifts have been one of my favourite parts of wedding planning!

I just wanted to say that I recently bought their medium cargo tote, and I LOVE it. It’s the perfect size for a carry-on, an all-day seminar for work, or a day at the beach.

I have also seen some really cute Timbuk2 bags at Title 9 and Athleta that I didn’t see anywhere else, including Timbuk2’s site.

I did something similar for my BMs with tote bags. I put flips flops inside them to match their dresses to wear at the reception. They were very happy to wear them dancing the night away!

I love Timbuk2 bags. I think these make great bridesmaid gifts! I recently bought a ladies laptop “handbag” and the water resistance is great on them. I live in Miami and was caught in a storm last week going from a coffee shop to my car and it was no big deal. And the bag is cute.

timbuk2 bags are great- good choice!

I went a little overboard for my bridesmaids to thank them for all their love and support and air travel (all but 1 live out of state).

I got each one a set of Pine Cone Hill PJ’s, monogramed apocothary candles, faux pearls with ribbon ties, and (since they are throwing me a beach bachelorette weekend) monogramed beach towels.

Any good excuse to shop!

Roslyn, thanks for the site! Those bags are absolutely gorgeous. :-) I might have to look into those! But there aren’t any locations near CA… do you know if the designer takes email/phone orders?

And everyone else: thanks for the suggestions! they’re perfect. I might have to do a themed bag, like a beach themed tote or a stationary themed messenger. :-)

Mine are on track to get lumps of coal. Just kidding. Dunno yet. Something personalized, for sure…I’m always plundering old posts for suggestions.

StationEry. Made me lol because a stationAry-themed messenger would be one that never goes anywhere. Ironic!

Went with giftbags of little luxuries: sterling silver earrings, leather purse/travel accessories, nice soaps & lotions, etc. (Not required to wear those earrings on w-day.)

My maids are getting a lovely red and ivory bracelette from Funky Oysters, and a gift card to Gene Juarez. Then, I am hoping to throw in something personal for each of them…if we have any wedding money left.

Our groomsmen are getting 2 tix to the MLB team in their home town. At the wedding they will be presented with personalized mini-bats with the game on it.

They are sooo cute! Great idea. I got my girls: a scrapbook, a monogramed tote, travel tissue, flip flops, bath oils and some lotion. Totally gives me an excuse to shop! :)

Love those bags!

For the girls, freshwater pearl necklaces and earrings from Turq Jewelry and a monogrammed jewelry bag.

For the guys, Vineyard Vines ties in different colors that match their interests and personalities (i.e. crabs for a groomsman from Maryland, dogs for a groomsman that just got a puppy, etc.).

Question: when do you actually give your BMs their gifts? Rehearsal dinner?

my maids will be getting a personalized makeup bag (which i will make and embroider) with some schmancy lip gloss and bath treats, a knitted shawl (which i will also make) with a personalized broach (e.g. a rhinestone elephant for the friend who’s mad about elephants) to wear with their dresses, and probably some flip flops to wear during the reception. i was also thinking about embroidering a tote for it all to go in, but something tells me it’d be too much.

Timbuk2 bags are very durable and mine has lasted for a really long time…I tried to figure out how long it’s been, but I couldn’t remember! Your BMs are very lucky.

Red: I think I’m going to present the gals their gifts either at the rehearsal dinner or when we’re getting ready. More likely, when we’re getting ready since it’ll be more intimate with just the 7 of us. :-)

Have you considered personalizing each bag to match the tastes of the recipient? I’ve done that for my bm’s — got them a monogrammed LL Bean Tote bag in their favorite color.

The same goes for the contents… for example, you may want to give each girl a pair of flip flops but for your friend who loves music you could also throw in an iTunes gift card or a gift certificate to a spa or a mani/pedi kit for your friend that enjoys some pampering.

We bought these for our groomsmen. We did the bag-in-a-box thing where they can pick their own colors and style.

My FI are getting members of our bridal party customized bobble heads made from their likenesses and flasks that look like cell phones.

What a terrific bridesmaid gift! And they’re made in SF, which will be especially meaningful for you and them.

I love those gifts! My bridesmaids and I are going to wear ballerina shoes/skimmers in my wedding, so I am letting them pick out whatever kind they want(no matter if they match the wedding or not- they will be under the dresses anyway!). They can wear them in the wedding, and then wear them on a regular day!
