About Mrs. Jelly Beans

Paper, Papier, Papery, Papel…

June 20th, 2007 @ 2:56 pm by Mrs. Jelly Beans

Since I started planning our wedding almost two years ago I have undertaken a few DIY projects. I took many, many pictures of my completed projects which I then stored on my Mac and backed up on disc. I guess you can conclude that I am little OCD as well. smiley1028

So now I will hop on my wedding Delorean and show you what I’ve been up to for the past year and a half. *Cue lights*

My first project: Our Save The Dates

Everyone always asks if our wedding date held great importance to our relationship. An anniversary or a first date perhaps? Nope, we simply picked it because I was hoping it wouldn’t be too hot that day for our tent reception. silly014

I had no clue where to begin. This is when I started looking online for ideas and then started living and breathing wedding forums. I was walking through Chapters one day, which is the Canadian equivalent of Barnes and Nobles, looking at their cute but random stuff geared towards defenseless females. Then I saw it , Vintage Paris Book Plates!!!!! Perfection!

I cut out the Eiffel tower image. Pasted it onto a light pink 5 x 7 cardstock then mounted it on a dark chocolate cardstock. And for the final touch I placed a rhinestone below the Eiffel tower to add some “bling.” It seems like this would have been such a simple DIY project, but it took forever to complete 200 STD’s. This is where the dark side of wedding planning first reared its head - the bribery, the tears, the begging and then the frustration. I admire all the brides out there who have taken it upon themselves to make their own invitations! When we completed this project I was convinced that I was going to order our invitations. :)

I purchased the envelopes from Papersource in Luxe Blush. I love the texture and feel of the Luxe papers. I printed all the envelopes on my HP Ink Jet Printer. All my text were in a chocolate brown color. My advice: “practice, practice, practice” and lots of deep breathing. smiley1028

So nice!

P.S. RE sharing the font file, careful — If it’s available by purchase only, sharing could be a copyright violation, something WB does not endorse, I am sure.

P.P.S. Can I just share that we just received another STD photo magnet, ugh. It went right in the trash. Hey, it’s on the calendar already, and I’m not a fridge magnet clutter girl, and they aren’t such close friends that I want to be looking at their faces on my fridge for the next 6 months.

Ummmm… Not so sure about that Miss Lovebug. I have wasted many trees, pulled out many hairs, and went to therapy before I even finished one DIY project. :)

I love this idea! I am thinking of getting thank you notes with the tower on it to help wrap up my semi there of Paris.

Lovely! When did you send your save-the-dates? My wedding isn’t for another 14 months so I don’t want to be TOO far ahead, but I don’t think I can handle waiting until 6 months out, either!

Thanks My! I am loving dafont.com…………so cool!

And Miss Jelly Bean, your STDates are beautiful, I would save that forever! Thanks for the don’t do magnet tips from Iris, I’d rather do something creative without our pictures on it. I’d hate for our pictures to be trashed but the reality of it is that it will be trashed.
