Honeymoon Update!

Hi again! It is raining here in Amsterdam so I had a few minutes to chat! We have already been to London and Dusseldorf and are in Amsterdam until morning when we will take the train to Paris. We are having a wonderful time so far and it is so much fun telling people that we are honeymooning and saying “My husband…” whenever possible. Our hotels have been fantastic. I especially love the European beds with the two separate long and narrow blankets so that you can snuggle and then when you eventually fall asleep and roll away from one another, no one is stealing the others blankets!! Mr. Pumpkin and I are both notorious blanket stealers so we are considering doing this at home too!)

Anyhow, since I have some time I thought I would give you a more detailed description of the wedding! Mr. Pumpkin’s ankle held up fairly well! (Thanks for asking) He had gotten a boot type thing earlier in the week and so he started putting a little weight on it on Thursday. He walked down the aisle unassisted and we had our first dance without anyone being the wiser! After the first dance though the boot went back on.

The biggest stress was the decorating in the morning. We did everything ourselves so we started quite early (I’ll give you a better breakdown on timing later). Unfortunately not everyone who offered to help showed up and it ended up being just my MOH and I decorating the reception site! Not good. As a result I actually did not get to see the ceremony site before the wedding, and because everything was such a blur I never really got a good look at it. I am hoping that the pictures will give me a better idea of how it looked for our guests! I will write more on this whole fiasco later….

The best part of the day was the ceremony! I actually held it together and managed to be “in the moment” as much as possible so that was great! When I look back at the day now, almost a week later, that 15 minutes is the only thing that I think I remember clearly - everything else is sort of fuzzy and runs together.

Anyhow, I am off to walk in the rain! We have given up on waiting for it to stop and we are going out anyway!
