What exactly have I done? I done got me a second dress!! If you recall, I recently came to the conclusion that I wanted/needed a reception dress. But being budget conscious, I definitely did not want to spend over $200. Mission Impossible? Maybe not! Over the weekend, Mr. E and I went shopping (unfortunately, its a favorite passtime for BOTH of us) and I decided to check out the department store selections of white dresses. Overall I was quite disappointed (I came out empty handed at Macys, Nordstroms, Lord & Taylor, and Von Mauer) but finally at my last stop, Carsons, I came across one that was perfect! I even let Mr. E see me in it since this is not THE dress and I needed his opinion (also considering that we were shopping together, and he actually bought it for me
). So this is what I walked out with for about $123. Yay!!

Ok ok, before you judge, I wasn’t too crazy about the black beading at first either. But on the whole, I like that it’s slinky and sexy… completely different than my real dress which has a very vintage, romantic vibe. I was afraid that the satin would look too “cheap” and overly prom-ish, but it actually drapes quite nicely. The bodice has a lot of structured boning which prevents all the usual lumps and bumps that come from wearing satin. Although I DO need to work on sculpting my bootay cuz it’s clingy and I have a slightly flat bottom.
I also think I will have my seamstress add halter straps cuz I am generally uncomfortable in strapless dresses and hate having to hike it up every 10 minutes. TADA!!

Obviously, it needs to be shortened like a foot, and I’ll have to get rid of the train (which I love) if I want to be able to dance. And underneath it all, I will be sporting these comfy, 3-inch tall, white beaded flip flops, courtesy of Sears!

TIP: For anyone who is interested in getting a second reception gown at a reasonable price, go check out the bridesmaids dresses at your nearby bridal salon! I found some fab B-maid dresses that all came in shades of white or ivory and most were priced under $200. Unfortunately, since I have less than 3 months until my wedding, there would have been a hefty rush fee AND a cutting fee since they would only be making one dress versus multiple. Just a thought, ladies!! You never know where you’ll find the perfect dress, so happy shopping, ladies!
