I scavengered a certain something from my parents’ basement the other day: My mom’s garter from their wedding, 30 years ago!! She wore it, but never tossed it… so lucky me, I get to wear it too! Unfortunately, she was about 20 pounds lighter than me at the time, so it kind of cuts off my circulation. HAHA. I need to find a way to stretch it out before September!
It’s nothing fancy, but it’s certainly meaningful. I’m gonna find another cheapo-dollar-store garter to actually toss, cuz this one stays in the family! Maybe my sister can wear it one day too… unless I stretch it out TOO much!
It’s super cute too! Wow, your mom is cool. I can’t picture my Chinese mom wearing one. Or is your mom pretty Americanized?
Would check the elastic; might have dry-rotted and needs replacement elastic strung through. (If so, slit stitches at a seam, safety-pin the new elastic to the old and pull it through, detach and toss the old elastic, sew the ends of the elastic together, then stitch the slit closed again.)
