Bridal Shower Cake

June 24th, 2007 @ 9:46 am by Mrs. Plum

In one word: yum!  Le Gateau definitely did not disappoint - despite a few minor snafus yesterday morning - like how the guy dropped and essentially destroyed the cake on the floor while boxing it up for me, the cake turned out beautifully and it was absolutely yummy! It was so moist and fluffy and definitely tasted fresh. We had their signature white cake with fresh strawberry filling.

They covered the cake with a thin layer of fondant and used chocolate fondant for the ribbon - it was actually REALLY good - some of the best fondant I’ve ever tasted - definitely not too sweet, had a sort of marshmallow flavor while the chocolate fondant had a light tootsie roll flavor. You could definitely eat this entire cake - fondant and all even if you’re not particularly fond of fondant in general.

That’s really gorgeous. Almost looks like a jewelry box or something.

Go Amie says:

How did they rescue the cake after dropping it? We need the whole story here!

(And maybe they used marshmallow fondant, which is way better than regular fondant.)

It is gorgeous, that’s for sure!

No kidding I second Go Amie’s question!! Mainly I’m just nosy & curious (lol) but would also love to know how to salvage a cake that gets dropped - could be very handy for brides to know!!

They couldn’t save the cake - they had to bake a new one but they managed to salvage the flowers that werent completely destroyed by the fall from what I understand…

They didn’t really tell me much - I’m just glad everything ended up ok! :)

Was there a delay in picking up the cake then? Or did you only find out about the drop afterwards?
