Honeymoon in Paris, Day 1

June 27th, 2007 @ 1:19 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

We arrived pretty early on our first day of our honeymoon in Paris. Around 8:00 am all the locals were still sleeping and several cafes were just starting to open for business! Our hotel was located in the St. Germain des Pres District and there was a lot to see in the area.

Our first stop was the Notre Dame Cathedral:

The weather was pretty cool and sunny, as you can see the crowd really started to build up around noon!

We arrived so early that we couldn’t check in!  I left my luggage at the hotel desk and Mr. Bell Pepper just couldn’t trust the staff with his own luggage!  He wheeled it throughout the cathedral and all along the Seine River.

Some photos of the interior of the cathedral:

We went back outside and discovered a newly married couple taking wedding photos!

Here’s a typical breakfast you’ll find at any cafe in France.

There were so many cute bistros and cafes near our hotel! I love this photo of Le Navigator.

As we were crossing the Seine River, we noticed rush hour and a flood of tourists riding a tour boat under the bridge.

After visiting the cathedral, we spent most of the first day walking around the streets surrounding our hotel and catching up on some sleep. I’ll feature more details about our honeymoon soon - the next destination is the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower!

I don’t know why, but I’m enamored with your photo of breakfast! I think it’s just lovely to see “everyday” French things! Such lovely photo ops!

Hope you’re having a fabulous time!

i LOVE paris. when i was there in october… it was just magical. (once i ignored the dirtiness and graffitti and the abundance of homeless people compared to london…)

wear your comfy shoes for the louvre, you will need it! and just concede the fact that you will not see the entire thing in one day. and watch your bag on the eiffel tower! someone tried to pickpocket my friend IN the eiffel tower shop by literally rooting through the back of her backpack, but she knew better and didn’t have her money or passport in the back, just some food and her jacket.

i’d recommend versailles - the palace about a 30 min train ride outside of paris. they just reopened the hall of mirrors, so if you are a history nut or a marie antoinette fan, it’s a must go. go on a weekday preferably - the weekends they charge more to go into the fountain areas because they turn them on.

J’aime Paris! The photo of the newlyweds followed immediately with the breakfast shot made me suddenly think: WHY am I not getting married there?
