Wanted: Real Reader Budgets

June 28th, 2007 @ 5:05 pm by Mrs. Lovebug

As Mrs. Bee mentioned yesterday, we’d like to start featuring reader-submitted, complete budgets from former brides. We think this will be super helpful to all the brides-to-be out there, as budgeting is a tricky process for most everyone.

We’d like to post budgets of all sizes: small to large and everything in between. Metropolis brides, suburb brides, countryside brides, etc.  For privacy, we’ll post them without names (initials only, or just anonymously, if you prefer).

Below are the typical expenses to fill out, but you can adjust them to fit your particular budget (or include other categories). And you’re welcome to write short explanations of your expenditures as Mrs. Bell Pepper did here.

Please send your info to guest@weddingbee.com

Great Idea..I was so torn w/ this process at first…and a breakdown from another bride would have been extremely helpful. I will submit…mine as well=)

Just noticed that “reception food” and “reception drink” aren’t up there in the suggested list. Since those are usually the biggest expense by far, it’d be helpful to me (as a consumer of budgets) to break them out separately! (In fact, the MOST helpful way to view food/drinks, for comparison’s sake, is $/person.) Of course, the tricky thing is that sometimes food and drink are folded right into site fees for venues that also do food - but it’d be great to know for cases where they’re not, anyway.

Thank you, I have actually no clue what I have/will be spending for my November DW (from Hawaii to Las Vegas) but will try to keep track and let you know.

It might be helpful to have the wedding date, or even just year because, at least in large cities, the prices seem to go up every year so it’s hard to compare from one year to the next.
