June 29th, 2007 @ 3:41 pm by Mrs. Bee

BIL Bee has done it again - we now have a new and better search function powered by Google!  Woohoo!

It searches posts, comments, tags and more oh my!  You can find it in the exact same location our previous search box used to be.  Please try it out and let us know what you think! :)

Please help me out here. One of my fave things about the “old” search was typing in the word “bios” and seeing all the knotties of the week lined up for my viewing pleasure. It’s not the same when I do it now. Should I type it in differently? Thanks!

Thanks! The only sad part is that often I will remember a post from a while ago, search for it, and then only remember which one it was when I see who wrote it. For example, I might remember something really generic like “ribbon” and then scroll down on the old search function until I saw a bee icon where I went “aha!!! that’s the post!”

BIL Bee rocks! It works really well from what I can tell. I tried a few random searches.

I’m just wondering if you have any control over the ads shown on this site. Because I was scrolling through and saw an ad for what appeared to be a mail-order bride service? An ad for ‘chinese women looking for love and marriage’. Maybe it was just a dating site, I can’t tell since the site isn’t in English (chlove.com) but … well I was a little surprised, that’s all…

i clicked over and it’s not a mail order bride service… i think it’s a church site actually! but interesting that that was what showed up in the ad!

ps - the ads that appear on weddingbee’s search page are the same ads that appear on google’s search pages. unfortunately we can’t control them - sorry! :(

This is wonderful…I always thought the search function was one of the downpoints of weddingbee and since many of the early blogs never used tags there was a ton of stuff I was missing when I went looking…I didn’t know how many other posts were out there until I went through the archives day by day over the course of a week one time. This really makes things soooo much easier!

annie - when you guys suggest something, we probably already have it planned…. but there are just so few of us behind the scenes, and launching a new feature is a lot of work (much more than meets the eye! ;) ). so please give us some time as we build weddingbee - we’re definitely not ignoring you guys! :)
