Line of the Day: “Don’t lose anymore weight!”
Quoi? What? Come again? I don’t think I heard you correctly.
I am going to have to soak this up and remember that when the media tells me I am not good enough.
Yesterday I went for a final fitting of my dress in the “cheaper fabric” before they cut the pattern in the “real fabric”. Last Sunday, it was just sewn in muslin. As a wedding gift, the designer had this sample version made in lavender silk taffeta. I can’t thank her enough. It’s a replica of my wedding gown excluding the lace. She figured if they were going to make this for the fitting anyway, why not keep it as a reception dress. What a coincidence - reader Red was just asking me last time if I get to keep the samples. I guess I do!

Again, they had to take it in and tighten it up. The reason I should not lose any more weight is because they want to avoid making alterations after the dress is complete. The dress maker explained that the more you “mess with the dress”, not only will you lose the shape and style, but the dress will look worn. Good point! In the above picture, there is a bit of white dusting on the front. It’s baby powder. She puts baby powder on it to avoid staining it by dirty greasy hands. Train out.
With the bustle. And hello? Mederma and Proactive users… my back is totally clear now! Thanks for the recs. It’s working.
I love this side view. It’s so May Welland!
Now imagine the dress in white with lace! This is the color of the silk taffeta and chiffon paired up with the lace.
I wish you all could see this in person. The lace is so fine and delicate. It’s just heavenly! The designer went out to buy it just this week and thank goodness she did. Lace Star only had 1.75 yards left and wouldn’t be able to get anymore in because European mills close down in August for vacation. So she bought the rest of it just in case, and the extra is going to be used as my veil.
The lace is scalloped on both edges at two different sizes which is great. They are going to use the large scallop for the back of the dress, and the small scallop on the bodice and the head of my veil. I love this because now I get to keep a large piece of it and pass it down to my daughter someday (knocks on wood).
Since I can’t lose anymore weight I have to maintain my figure, don’t I? I met up with Mrs. Bee, Brother Pea and Bridesmaid L for lunch in Koreantown! Yummm It was all reallllly good. And I
Mrs. Bee. She’s so sweet.
And then Mrs. Bee introduced us to Pinkberry. Green Tea with strawberries, kiwi and pineapple.
It’s all coming together now. My next and final fitting won’t be until right before the wedding, and the sleeves will be put on last. I am getting really giddy and excited now - I daydream and smile to myself on the train going home! Passengers must think I am totally goofy.
I am not goofy. I am just a bride.
