3rd Fitting and a Surprise!

July 2nd, 2007 @ 10:53 am by Mrs. Snow Pea

Line of the Day: “Don’t lose anymore weight!”

Quoi? What? Come again? I don’t think I heard you correctly. shocked03 I am going to have to soak this up and remember that when the media tells me I am not good enough. laughin020 Yesterday I went for a final fitting of my dress in the “cheaper fabric” before they cut the pattern in the “real fabric”. Last Sunday, it was just sewn in muslin. As a wedding gift, the designer had this sample version made in lavender silk taffeta. I can’t thank her enough. It’s a replica of my wedding gown excluding the lace. She figured if they were going to make this for the fitting anyway, why not keep it as a reception dress. What a coincidence - reader Red was just asking me last time if I get to keep the samples. I guess I do!

Again, they had to take it in and tighten it up. The reason I should not lose any more weight is because they want to avoid making alterations after the dress is complete. The dress maker explained that the more you “mess with the dress”, not only will you lose the shape and style, but the dress will look worn. Good point! In the above picture, there is a bit of white dusting on the front. It’s baby powder. She puts baby powder on it to avoid staining it by dirty greasy hands. Train out.

With the bustle. And hello? Mederma and Proactive users… my back is totally clear now! Thanks for the recs. It’s working. z967220I love this side view. It’s so May Welland!
z96722001
Now imagine the dress in white with lace! This is the color of the silk taffeta and chiffon paired up with the lace.
z96722102
I wish you all could see this in person. The lace is so fine and delicate. It’s just heavenly! The designer went out to buy it just this week and thank goodness she did. Lace Star only had 1.75 yards left and wouldn’t be able to get anymore in because European mills close down in August for vacation. So she bought the rest of it just in case, and the extra is going to be used as my veil.
z96722103
The lace is scalloped on both edges at two different sizes which is great. They are going to use the large scallop for the back of the dress, and the small scallop on the bodice and the head of my veil. I love this because now I get to keep a large piece of it and pass it down to my daughter someday (knocks on wood).
z96722104
Since I can’t lose anymore weight I have to maintain my figure, don’t I? I met up with Mrs. Bee, Brother Pea and Bridesmaid L for lunch in Koreantown! Yummm It was all reallllly good. And I heart203 Mrs. Bee. She’s so sweet.
z96722002
And then Mrs. Bee introduced us to Pinkberry. Green Tea with strawberries, kiwi and pineapple.
z96722003
It’s all coming together now. My next and final fitting won’t be until right before the wedding, and the sleeves will be put on last. I am getting really giddy and excited now - I daydream and smile to myself on the train going home! Passengers must think I am totally goofy. silly016 I am not goofy. I am just a bride.

Wow - your dress is gorgeous. It drapes so well and accentuates your figure perfectly. You must have felt like such a princess (in a good way) to have this dress custom-made for you.

Can’t wait to see the final product…

That dress is going to be amazing! I love the bustle.

I am also in the same boat as far as losing too much weight goes. Who ever thought it would be a problem?

How nice of them to make you the lavendar dress. Now you can tell people you got two dresses for the price of one!

OMG, I love it so much in the lavender! That’s so wonderful that you’re going to have another dress that you can wear after the wedding. Dunno where you’re going to be able to wear a dress with a train…maybe you could have the train taken off. (Sorry, is that blasphemy?) You are going to have the most beautiful wedding dress. I love it so much.

pencils-I asked them about taking off the train or shortening the train and making a less fluffy bustle on the lavender dress. They are working on the white dress based on this sample so they won’t do that yet. When it’s complete, they will consider cutting it down if there’s enough time to do all that.

Love the dress..reminds me of the Age of Innocence.

On another note I googled Pinkberry and came across this disturbing article:

I hope they get their act together.

I love pinkberry! I didn’t know they had a store in New York.
I go to UCLA and there is a Pinkberry closeby in Westwood, so I get to eat it very often! Which makes that news article that ocicats put up very disturbing.
