Bouquet Flowers

July 2nd, 2007 @ 6:29 pm by Mrs. Radish

My sister and I are going to make the bouquets ourselves, so I am going with a mix of paper flowers, dried flowers, and silk flowers. Since we are making them ourselves, there is really no way that we can use fresh flowers. We would have to do it the night before, and we will be too busy for that. So, instead, using faux flowers we will make the bouquets far in advance.

For my bouquet, I found these beautiful paper flowers from Paper Source. I got about 6 or 7 of them. They are fairly large - about 5 inches in diameter I think. Some of them have a greenish tint in the center, and the others have a pale pinkish tint. I think I will use these as the “main” flowers for my arrangement.

For the bridesmaid bouquets, I got a bunch of different flowers from Michael’s and Joanne’s, since the flowers at Paper Source are kind of expensive. I will probably use some of these as “filler” in my bouquet too.

There were kind of my inspiration for the bridesmaids bouquets. I found them at Michael’s, and they have the antiqued, vintagey kind of look that I’m going for. These aren’t the greatest pictures of them, but you get the idea.

And here are a bunch of other flowers that I’ve gotten from Michael’s and Paper Source:

And here is a quick little sample bouquet I made (don’t worry - the real ones will be much nicer) just to give you an idea.

Is anyone else using faux flowers?

Very pretty! They definitely exude a different sort of air than fresh, but in a good way. The hues are so soft, muted and neutral. I think this is a great way to save money!

For our portrait session, we used flowers from http://www.hibiscusflorals.com and they were great… one huge advantage you have is that you’ll get to keep them in their original pristine condition, long after the wedding.

I absolutely loved my faux flower bouquet!! We went to Nordelee…it’s a wholesale place in our area and found tons of flowers for a great price. They felt real and looked real, and no one was the wiser. PLUS…I still have my bouquet to gaze at alongside wedding photos!!!

i am going that route, at least with the dried flowers. i have found lots of lovely flowers and grains for my fall harvesty wedding at michaels and ikea. i think that dried and paper flowers have such a timeless look and they are so much less wasteful. i love the idea of having my bouquet for years to come in a lovely vase!

I’m handy with a lot of things but flower arrangement isn’t one of them. I’m looking forward to seeing your finished bouquet, though!

Very pretty! And it will be lovely to have your bouquet forever. Mine is drying, but that will be a little different.

However, I did my own flowers, and we put together the bouquets that morning, and I had an 11:30am wedding. It’s very possible to do, it’s really not hard to do a rose-only bouquet. My good friend Steph did mine and it was gorgeous! (I was dressed already and couldn’t get wet.)

Those papersource flowers are beautiful. The brown roses don’t look real though.
