Since I’ve been planning this wedstravaganza, I’m constantly hit with the realization of, “Okay, we really have to do this now, the xxxxxxx has been paid for.” Fill in the blank with your favorite item: cake, dress, flowers, photographer… after all those tiny and separate freak outs, there is nothing more freak-worthy than ordering your invites.
Invitations weren’t really a big care of mine, since I knew we wouldn’t be able to custom design them, nor would we be able to buy super great expensive ones. So, we picked an invitation that we both liked, and that we felt fit our personalities. On Friday night, still a little mopey about my brother not being able to make it to the wedding (but still elated about the baby!), Mr. Kiwi gave me the go-ahead to order our invitations. So, at about 9 o’clock pacific time, I began the process of ordering these babies:
The color of the writing could not be changed, but after much studying of the invitation, I loved the white. It made the invitation “pop” and really drew my eyes to the wording. Luckily, there were two items we were able to customize: the font and the wording.
The fonts we used were BIC for the names at the top and the names in the body of the text, and then FNH for the rest of the wording. For those who know us, we’re not really scrollish types of people. We’re more handwritten people.
If that makes ANY sense at all.
I must admit, I had the HARDEST time choosing a font (it actually took me three hours to order them, I couldn’t decide the wording!). I wanted the names to be a little sillier, but also a bit grown-up. With so many options to choose from, it was doubly hard to find another font that slightly matched the name font, but still stood out. Since Mr. Kiwi actually chose BIC, I chose the body text font. His name starts with a “P”, so that’s the first thing he looked at, how the “P” looked, and how my “A” looked. In BIC, the “P” is exactly how Mr. Kiwi writes it, I think that’s what hooked him.
Then I chose the wording (picture it centered):
Kiwi Kiwi Kiwi (picture this larger with more space between the names and the next line)
and
Kiwi Kiwi Kiwi
request the honour of your presence
at their marriage
on Saturday, the third of November
at half-past nine in the morning
Church of Blah Blah
976 Blah blah Avenue
Venice, California
I’m waiting for my e-proof, where I will add o’clock after the nine (or do I not have to?). Do you think the address and the city should be on the same line? Do I need to say “California”? Can you tell I’m freaking out over this?
