About Mrs. Pumpkin

One of the best parts of coming home from our honeymoon, besides sleeping in our own bed and having clean laundry again, was that we finally got to open our wedding gifts! What wonderful, thoughtful, and generous friends and family we have! We were given so many lovely gifts, but three that stood out for us are a quilt, our wedding invitation framed for us, and a bottle of Dom Perignon! Check these out:

This quilt was made by my BFF’s mom for us. It is so beautiful, and I can’t believe that she went to that much trouble for us! She even matched it to our invites!

I was so touched when we opened up the beautiful wrapping and saw this note:

Here it is all spread out:

And the back:

The next gift is from my SIL’s mom, the same lady who made our wonderful wedding cake! So, not only did she work really hard for months making us the perfect wedding cake, but she did this as well!

Isn’t that wonderful? I love that she included our personalized stamps as well as the invite. So thoughtful of her!

And finally, the most fun gift to open was this bottle of Dom Perignon and champagne flutes from my aunt and her family. Mr. P and I will pretend we are high rollers one night and crack that baby open! Maybe on our first night in our new home…

What sorts of wonderful and touching gifts are those of you who have been getting married in the past few weeks getting? Is anyone working on a gift like these for a wedding you are attending as a guest this summer?

Wow, that quilt is gorgous! My parents gave us a family heirloom double wedding ring quilt that was pieced together by my Great Grandma. She passed away a couple of years ago, so it was extra special.

What beautiful and personal gifts! I feel lame–I just don’t have time this summer to make gifts. ::Heads sheepishly off to the BB&B registry to buy a gift for an upcoming wedding.::

Those are great presents.

My favorite present so far was a cross stitch from my aunt/godmother. She makes the same one for every family members wedding present and it is based on one done by my (deceased) grandmom when she was a girl.

Here’s the kicker - since I’m the oldest grandchild and her only godchild, she gave me the original cross-stitch.

That quilt is so awesome. I mean all your presents are, but I love giving blankets and quilts as wedding gifts. It is still earthy but modern.

My MIL did a cross stitch for us. It has a sweet quote about marriage, our names, and the year. My husband grew up watching her do them for other people, so in a funny getting one from her about our wedding really brought it home to him that we were getting married. They both started to cry when we unwrapped it. It is now hanging above our bed. We love it!
Your quilt is gorgeous and it inspires me to make one!
