My (Hopeful) Miracle Worker

July 3rd, 2007 @ 6:15 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

I’ve caved to the idea of having our makeup done for the wedding. Even though it’s not in the budget, people have been offering to pay for it! My cousin let me know that he has a friend who does makeup for weddings, and since it’s not her “real” job, she doesn’t charge as much as she could.

When I asked him for her info, I was surprised to see that her email address ended in bareescentuals.com. For not wearing makeup most of the time, even I know of Bare Escentuals! Seeing that in her email address scared me a bit, of course she’s going to be soo expensive. Then I got a quote: for a face trial it is $100.00, for the actual wedding day it’s $150.00, with an additional $90.00 for anyone else.

Well, that’s not that expensive–especially for someone in Los Angeles, who actually is a regional manager for Bare Escentuals. Perhaps that’s her “family of her friend” price. Either way, it sounds good to me! And get this–her last name is Miracle. Sign from above? You bet your bippy. Since my hair is being done by a friend of the family, I am actually saving money. I can get a hair-do for about $50.00, and with the makeup, it’s a good amount for how I’ll look in pictures forever. :)

So, I’ve called my Miracle Worker and we’re currently setting up a day for my makeup trial. I’m actually kind of excited; I’ve never had my makeup done before! I’ve also heard great things about Bare Escentuals, and my sensitive skin should be okay.

I don’t wear foundation as a rule, as they all make me break out (and I have OK skin, generally.) But I wanted to try to use SPF on a daily basis, although sunscreens tend to make me break out too. But then I heard about Bare Escentuals and how it’s SPF 15, so I invested the money in the foundation and the brush and it looked great. However…it made me break out. ARGH! They say the particles are too big to clog your pores–I guess I have big pores. (I don’t.) I think it’s great stuff for one day, like your wedding, but if you decide you love it after the trial and you have sensitive skin, invest in a small amount to start.

I LOVE Bare Escentuals - its great!! It’s what I wear on a daily basis for a natural coverage and look :) I’m getting my makeup airbrushed on for my wedding day.

I’m surprised that Bare Escentuals makes some people break out. I’ve only had good experiences with Bare Escentuals foundation and I have really sensitive skin that is prone to rashes. My only complaint is that it can get messy if you take it with you on a vacation.

Agree that it made me break out and even their lightest colored powder was too dark for my fair skin. I like the effect and it does feel weightless so I can see how it works for some people.

I wore Bare Escentuals stuff on my wedding day and it worked out great - looked good, was light and comfortable and didn’t melt/slide off in the intense heat. I had never worn BE stuff before but it’s what my stylist friend always uses.
