DIY Ring Pillow

July 5th, 2007 @ 1:55 pm by Mrs. Violet

As with most brides, I didn’t love the ring pillow choices available, nor did I want to pay for something that I didn’t truly love, so of course, I went the DIY route. I bought the raw silk fabric & batting for the pillow from Joann’s, and the ribbons were from Michael’s. The vintage button was bought on Etsy. Hand sewn and stuffed by me. My FSIL did the rest with the ribbons. (She’s just as crafty!) She took the ribbons and created this elegant-looking ring pillow. I totally love it! The rings are her and FBIL’s wedding rings. In total, I spent about $15 for all materials (with lots of extra fabric and batting leftover).

A picture of the ringbearer practicing his smile and how to hold the pillow. We plan on having him carry our real rings since he is a bit older than the usual ringbearers. Isn’t he a cutie?

He’s adorable. Ringbearers are so cute. I couldn’t find a pillow I liked either, the commercially sold ones all seemed to be ugly AND expensive! $35 for a badly sewn pillow of cheap satin? Nuh uh. I found a nice woman on eBay–who was also on Long Island, coincidentally–who made me exactly what I requested for $11 plus shipping. It’s nice, too: ivory satin, two wide navy ribbons, fake silver rings, and a button in the middle, that’s it. She did ask if I was *sure* I didn’t want some lace, but I was sure.

He is so so cute and the pillow turned out beautifully. Nice color combo and fabric/ribbon selection.

I love your ring pillow. It’s simple and elegant and your ring bearer is so adorable. Just I could sew and make a pillow too.
