About Mrs. Emerald

Done! Gone! Adios!

July 5th, 2007 @ 4:10 pm by Mrs. Emerald

I mean my invitations! My gosh, this was certainly a labor of love for the past four months, but I am SO glad that they are now on their way to mailboxes around the country. In fact, some people should be receiving theirs today! YAY!

This past Sunday, Mr. E and I spent literally the entire afternoon stamping, sealing, organizing and checking off all our invitations. You may remember my previous dilemma about my calligraphy and the potential for smearing. Thanks to our trusty Weddingbee readers, we were offered the perfect solution! Enter clearbags.com! They were inexpensive (I spent about $25 for 200 of them) and they look AWESOME! I would totally love to receive an invitation that was enveloped in clear packaging!! It also prevented me from having to seal all the inner envelopes, which was CRUCIAL because halfway through sealing the invites in the plastic packing, I realized that we forgot to put stamps on the RSVP envelopes. Err, not good. Luckily, the clear bags were easy to unseal and re-use (especially cuz we already put stamps on them and would have had to waste $40 in postage if we were not able to re-use them!!)

Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure…

I designed these glossy business card-sized pieces with our wedding website address on one side and an engagement pic on the other side, and had it printed at Overnight Prints. OP also printed our invites, so everything matched and looked fabuloso!! (sorry for the blurry pics)

Each invitation was personalized with the invitee’s name

Here is the tiny one inch sticker I printed out with our monogram (they don’t stick very well cuz of the shiny finish on the envelopes, but that was fine)

Final product, with the address in calligraphy (done by myself!), sealed in plastic, stamped, and ready to go!!

And lastly, on a totally random note… here is a pic of our adorable 1 year old flower girl at a July 4th BBQ yesterday!! Notice the crumbs on her cheek… this little one eats anything and everything!

Just like everyone else… I too LOVE your invitations :) But I have a question, how will the post office put their necessary “codes” on the envelope if its wrapped in plastice? Does your post office use stickers instead of a stamp machine for those bar code looking thingy-s at the the bottom of the envelope?

Love the personalized invites!!! Great Job!!

Jennifer, I don’t have a clue what the post office is gonna do with their “codes”!! That crossed my mind as well, but the bags are approved for mailing thru USPS, and I brought an envelope to the post office just to double check. Another reassurance is that a friend already received his!!

Hi Miss Emerald -

I love your invitations ! I was actually looking for a way to include my website in the invitation and your cards are a perfect way to do it. Did you upload your design to Overnight Prints, if so which program did you use to design it? Also, can you tell me what you used to make your monogram stickers?

Miss Emerald says:

Davis2B - I designed the website card using Adobe Illustrator. I have only a very basic knowledge, but thats what I was able to come up with. Then you have to save it as a PDF file and upload it to Overnight prints. The quality of their printing is absolutely amazing!

As for the monogram, my invitation designer saved my monogram as a JPEG. I just bought the little round stickers at Office Max and used Microsoft Word, and the label making option. Then I inserted the Jpeg into Word, and printed the labels out on my home printer. Yay! Let me know if this is unclear…

What kind of vellum did you use for the enclosures? Did you DIY them?
