About Mrs. Strawberry

I’ve Got a Monkey On My Back!

July 5th, 2007 @ 6:27 pm by Mrs. Strawberry

I’m considering entering myself into a rehab facility for my wedding addiction(s). Plural.

There’s my extensive wedding magazine collection that I have procured from Barnes and Noble and back issues of Martha from eBay. I have dog-eared pages, highlighted articles, and in some cases–taken notes in the margins. I’ve also implemented a Dewey Decimal System of sorts…

I should also mention my obsession with anything and everything pink and brown. Do I need a pink and brown tampon cozy? The answer is no. A resounding no. Oh and yes, they do make tampon cozies.

But my biggest addiction is to packaging. It began with collecting toilet paper rolls to make confetti poppers for guests to throw as we leave the ceremony. And then..it spiraled out of control. Let’s just say that my mini cupcakes will find themselves in 6 separate containers, for each of the 6 different flavors we’re having, displayed in 6 different, yet clever ways that I have yet to come up with.

I can’t be alone. Does anyone else want to join a 12 step program with me? I don’t want to be ashamed any longer!!

Miss Strawberry, you are not alone.

Hi, my name is Linda and I’m a wed-aholic. I’m addicted to all wedding stationary related items.

I’m addicted to leaves. What the hell am I going to do with a dish towel with leaves on it??? I can’t USE THIS for the wedding!

Lol, yeah, I’ve noticed a strange propensity toward buying anything and everything in the exact shade of green I’m using for my wedding. Bath towels! Napkin rings! Dog toys! Dog toys, you say? Yup. Will not be used in the wedding though. I’m totally cracked.

No worries — It does start to subside a few months post-wedding. Must wean self off W.B… Things start to come into perspective once the planning goes away, sort of like the post-holiday shopping period every January.

I have the EXACT same problem… I love pink & brown, and I have WAY too many Martha Stewart Wedding issues.. dating back to 2004 I think?

Me too. :)

Same obsession with pink and brown.

My fiance thinks my wedding magazine pile has taken a life of it’s own.

But you know what? I LOVE being engaged and only plan on doing this ONCE, therefore I shall enjoy it to its fullest! And all the nutty-ness too!

You are not alone Miss Strawberry. I think I win the grand prize for Martha Stewart Wedding magazine collection though. I started collecting in the summer of 1999. But I remember seeing my first one in the summer of 1997. I have been obsessed with weddings since 1995.

But go figure that my wedding was a last second decision. No formal proposal. Just, “How about this date? It flows nicely.”

My dress cost me $10 off the clearance rack. My shoes were $19.99 from Payless. My mani and pedi were paid for by my best friend. My bouquet was a last minute decision too. On my way to city hall I stopped off at a flower shop and my bouquet was $8.50. The most money we spent was for our wedding rings. My hubby’s suit was something he already had.

I keep dreaming of our big wedding though. Which we have planned for our 5th anniversary.

I’ll join with you, Miss Strawberry. I could barely spell wedding before this silly ring hit my finger, but now….. my fiance is probably wondering where his sweet, low-key, wedding oblivious girlfriend went and why the paper, ribbon, and wedding magazine hoarding lunatic who looks like her now lives in his house. When’s the first meeting? ;)

Same here! Lately, I’ve been obsessed with paper…any patterns with pink and brown! I’m in the same boat as Bettina…I’ll buy any cute paper I come across and have no clue if I’ll actually use it for the wedding or anything else. Wonder what will be next on the wedding obsession list?
