Let Them Eat Cake…

July 5th, 2007 @ 11:04 am by Mrs. Radish

A friend of my mother’s is an excellent baker so she is going to make our wedding cakes for us (we are having 1 regular cake and 1 vegan cake). They are going to be made with organic ingredients and I’m sure they will be very delicious. We haven’t actually met with the baker yet to do a tasting, so I’m not sure what flavor we will have. I usually like some kind of fruit filling like raspberry or cherry and I personally prefer yellow or chocolate cake to white cake.

Anyway, I bought this cake topper from A.C. Moore’s. It was only $35!

I really wanted this cake topper from Ann Wood, but it was $400, which I could not justify spending seeing as how that’s about a week’s pay for me.

I don’t really care that much about what the rest of the cake looks like though. I’m thinking just something relatively simple would be fine. Maybe even all one color since there is already a lot going on in the cake topper. Well, here are some cakes that I think are cool (you will notice there are a lot of birds involved):

That’s MY cake topper too! Oh, no, it’s popular! Heh. I saw it a couple of months ago, thought it was adorable, and sent the link to my mom, who baked our main cake. My mom fell in love with it, told me she would buy it if i didn’t, so I did. Guess I should finish my final Knot bio so you guys can see my photos. I love how the cake turned out, it had an apricot glaze on top of the layers, which looked great with the pale colors of the topper. BTW, I got mine on eBay for less than list price.

And, BTW, to anyone who likes it, the topper easily comes off the plastic cake on the bottom. It’s only attached with a couple of wires. It’s from Wilton, called “The Song of Love.”

The one you bought is way cuter than the $400 one.

Being creative does not have to cost a lot of $$$.
Cakes are the perfect place to have a bit of fun.
I worked with a bride who meets her husband in a radio theatre group.
On the top of the cake we placed a miniature vintage 1940’s radio. I think it was a pencil sharpener.
For another couple, I used day of dead dolls, blood red roses with rosemary instead of ivy.
It was simple perfect for them.
