Pretzel Favors

For our OOT bags, we wanted to include NYC-themed items. Nothing too over the top. Just a touch here and there. Since soft pretzels would not last long, I was searching for a hard pretzel of substantial size. Mr. Snow Pea’s mom ran to Costco for me and picked up a tub of these hard pretzels for $3.99 (50 pretzels). They are about 4.5″ wide and 5/8″ thick, so they were perfect!

Since they were loose pretzels, I had to package them somehow for sanitary reasons. Okay, I lied. I wanted a reason to use this cookie favor idea by the talented Mrs. Plumeria. I even pulled out all the cheesy stops and included a line saying “Tie the Knot” since it’s a pretzel. Like the cookies, the pretzels are somewhat heart-shaped as well. Perfect!

I created the labels in Photoshop and printed 4/sheet of 8.5×11 paper. I trimmed the labels, folded them, and stapled them to the cellophane bags. I put two pretzels in each bag since there are two guests per hotel room. Since the back side of the pretzel is flat, I inserted the two pretzels back to back, so the “nice side” can be seen from the front and back of the bag. I like these cellophane food bags because they can expand and hold goodies of all shapes and sizes.

I made these as additions to my OOT bags, but they would easily make great wedding favors.

Pretzels (Costco): $3.99/50
Cellophane bags (ACMoore): $2.69/24
Labels: Free

Total = 19 cents each!
For 100 guests, that’s only $19!

As an afterthought, I thought it would be cute to include a small packet of mustard. This idea works for both NYC or Philly brides.

Do you have to worry about the bag being completely airtight, so they don’t get stale? Or maybe these are the super-hard Synders pretzels?

Regional Culinary Gifts…
Are simple the perfect wedding favors.
Love the pretzels!
I did a wedding in Aspen at a Fly Fishing Lodge.
We boxed Swedish fish toped with a fishing lure and place card.
Much more fun than a box of chocolates.

Soo cute. I am not even engaged yet, but my Mom and I already decided that we are making our own pretzels as favors. She’s from Philly and her whole family will hopefully be there, so I suppose it’s appropriate in that respect. But honestly, my boyfriend and I just LOVE pretzels. We’re going to include a honey mustard dipping sauce, too. Yummy!
