Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

About Mrs. Kiwi

Although we must wait until the RSVPs come in to make our seating chart, I’m looking around for ideas. Ideally, we’ll place their place card at their seat, with a large chart detailing who is seated at which tree. Although there aren’t really any examples of this idea, here are others that I’ve seen.

Scroll Chart, by ScrollInABox. Hehehe. Scroll in a box. That reminds me; anyone see that Justin Timberlake SNL skit?

This one looks easy enough to do. Oakville Paper

So many ideas. Which do you find easier to find your seat? The ones that are alphabetically arranged with your table name/number beside it, or the ones arranged by tables?

Hi! You definitely want to do it in ABC order. There’s nothing worse than a mob of people all trying to find their seats at once!

Hope this helps! Good luck with your planning!

My concern with seating charts is that if someone cancels or RSVPs at the last minute you can’t change things very easily.

OMG, the d*** in a box skit… my FI laughed about that all through the holiday season. Dirty boys. Funny… but DIRTY!

i never understood why people would arrange their seating charts by table. isn’t the whole point to determine which table you belong to? alpha-order is how you’d find your name, then your table.

i’ve done the scroll/charts at a few of my weddings and they’re very helpful for guests.

oh a tip: start calling your guests who have not returned your rsvp card on the weekend of your rsvp due date in order to receive a response. it will hopefully decrease your last minute rsvps. and if you have a handful of unaccounted for guests, i would plan on them coming just in case. wouldn’t want them to not have a seat in case they arrive.

While I think listing by table looks prettier (I think that’s because visually it’s broken up into even increments and not just a massive list), it’s much easier to find your name alphabetically… and therefore won’t create a massive crowd surrounding the scroll/chart/list/thing

definately ABC order. makes things so much more simple.

Definitely alphabetical….but the next question is: Whose name would I list? The guy, the girl, both?

i was helping my friend find seating chart for the guests at her wedding and it took longer than it should because the names weren’t alphabetized. definitely put ur guest name in alphabetical order w/ their table name right next to it because the sooner everyone find their table, the sooner you can begin your evening.

I like the look of by table, but by name is definitely easier to find yourself.

OMG Miss Kiwi you made me laugh out loud (as your posts and obscure references to SNL often do **Lay off me, I’m starving!!!**).

Cindy says:

definitely in alphabetical order. the crowding around the sign isn’t good and someone is going to wind up elbowing someone else… and then someone’s corsage/boutinere/beehive hairdo is going to get messed up… and then there’s a melee… and a fracas…

Iris says:

ABC, definitely! You look in 1 place instead of 17 places.

Miss GreenBean says:

ok I have to make one of these myself…and I took a family poll , by far ABC is best…!!

Birdy says:

ABC by individual… so even with a couple, they should each have their own little card or whatnot because they will take up two seats (unless you have freaky chair-sharing PDA couples attending, natch).

ABC is definitely the way to go! The third picture is beautiful and goes perfectly with your leaf obsession!

ABC! I just created a seating chart using word. I found some beautiful fonts and created an clean simple, romantic chart. It was super easy to make and it saved me a lot of money. Plus, you can use the frame after the wedding to hold a nice big picture of you and your then husband in your wedding attire.

As for last-minute cancellations, that’s unavoidable. We had 3 cancellations last minute, plus 1 new guest but it wasn’t that big of a deal. I made the chart 1 week before the wedding when the guest list of finalized and sent it off to kinkos to have it printed same day.
