About Mrs. Pearl

7-7-7

July 7th, 2007 @ 1:07 pm by Mrs. Pearl

Well, it’s finally upon us. July 7, 2007, the most anticipated wedding date ever. I had heard as much on The Knot (and figured since there are a good 10 girls getting married on that day on my local board), but this was a story of obsession on the local news all day today. News stories estimate approximately 38,000 couples will say “I Do” on this date, about three times as many for any average Saturday in July.

My favorite comment by a bride being interviewed about her 7-7-7 wedding was that the date was a big deal for them and their first choice of date because “it only happens once per century.”

Dear readers, please tell me why her comment is hysterical. :)

It only happens once every 1,000 years. A century is 100 years. But who needs math or an understanding of the modern calendar? Totally overrated.

So how will people abbreviate the date on July 7, 2107? Wouldn’t it still be 7-7-07? Or will people really put 7-7-107?

kekeke

To me it’s only truly a big deal if it’s like 2-2-2222 but that won’t be for a while.

cause every date only happens once per century? 7-19-08 only happens once per century too. I think that’s how I’ll start explaining it if people ask why I chose that date :P

Melissa, that’s how I think too!

*grumbles* I have two 7-7-7 weddings today and both brides play the “we had no idea it was so popular!” card and I really can’t believe that everyone thought no one else would pick that date.

In general, July 4th weekend is a hot holiday. Too bad this year it fell on a Wednesday but even in real estate it’s like the mid holiday long weekend that everyone decides is the great date to move, get married, etc because everyone has an extra day off.

I heard the comment and kinda sat on my couch with a confused look. For a minute, I thought I was missing something.

Haha. Funny stuff! I much prefer the idea of getting married on a date that is special to you personally, like an anniversary. Or, just a random day. ;)

I know this may sound weird…but even with all the websites and magazines, etc. etc.. that I have looked at on weddings….I never realized that today was 7-7-7 and I started planning my wedding in Sept of last year! How’d I miss this until a few days ago?

I would like to say its because the wedding date I chose is unique to me and my sweetie and I didn’t need anything else to make it stand out to be special. ****but, that’s just me****

I’m still amazed I never knew until now!

cause there’s also 8/8/8, 9/9/9, 10/10/10, 11/11/11, 12/12/12, as well as 1/1/11, 2/2/22, etc… 7/7/77 even :)

Go Amie

Well, 7/7/7 is nothing special, but I’m sorry I missed my chance at 6/6/6!

Of course, there is a theory that the “true” number of the beast is supposed to be 9/9/9, so I guess I have another opportunity coming up!

because it’s the seventh day of the week/month, seventh month of the year, and seventh year of the century. next year 8-8-8 will fall on a friday, which isn’t as convenient to have a wedding.

Julie…I am a 777-er and seriously didn’t know it was going to be such a popular date. We planned a year and a half in advance and had no idea there would be all the (ridiuclous) hoopla. :-) No card being pulled here. :-)
