Miscellaneous Project #529

July 9th, 2007 @ 2:24 pm by Mrs. Emerald

I plan to dance my little feet off on the night of my wedding, and I want my friends to do the same! In order to alleviate the issue of achy feet, I am providing flip flops for the ladies so they can kick off their heels and par-tay right along side me. (I was only able to find 15 pairs, which may not be enough, but whatever…)

m98272730.jpg

m98272945.jpg

This was an easy, but fun project!

Cost: $17

- Flip flops - $15 (these were $1 per pair in the Target dollar section, and I got 15 pairs! I admit I went to 3 different Targets to hunt them down)
- Basket - Free! Leftover from a Christmas gift basket
- Miscellaneous ribbon and paper goods - $2 (random scraps from all of my paper-related projects)

I think these flips flops are so cute, and such an AWESOME find!! I wanted to do something like this initially, but dropped the idea cuz I didn’t want to spend $2.50 - $3 per pair (from Old Navy). So when I found these at Target for $1 each, it absolutely made my day! I tied up each pair with chocolate brown ribbon (leftover from my invitations) and marked each with the size (Small/Medium or Medium/Large). Then I printed out the sign, mounted it on Stardream cardstock in Mars, and taped it to some 2inch wide ivory ribbon that I didn’t have any other use for.

I plan to have my DOC set these out around 9:30 or 10pm, and hope that some people will make use of these.  Voila!

Such a cute idea! I bought flippers (flip-flops) for my wedding party, but didn’t think we could afford baskets of them. I may have to start looking more carefully! :)

Love these. Great minds think alike… don’t want to do 2.50 at Old Navy, but now I’ll have to visit the dollar spot even more than I already do, just in case these pop up again.

BTW - this weekend, I created a mood board to show my BMs and you’re in it! I LOVE your dress. :)

I’m doing the same thing except I’m offering Chinese slippers. They are also $1 each from http://www.mysisterusa.com. The different colors of slippers look amazing. (Just keep in mind that the Chinese slippers are about 1 size smaller…so if you are size 8, then you wear a size 9 slipper).

May I ask who you are using as your DOC? I’m in Chicago, too, and I’m considering hiring one. What services were included? Thanks!

The basket is adorable!

I do have one question for anyone who has already done this…of course, dress shoes are not comfortable for dancing after an hour or two (maybe less!), but are flip flops practical for dancing?

I would have thought no, but it seems this may be a great idea!

Christina,
The scripty font is Cezanne, and the regular text is Copperplate Gothic Light. I actually paid $22 to download the Cezanne font, couldnt find it for free online!

Alexa, my DOC is Cindy Kang. If you want, you can email me at emerald@weddingbee.com and I can send you her contact info!

did you get the flip flops recently? I have been looking for cheap ones hoping there would be major sales when the summer ends, but yours are such a steal and super cute!

Such a great idea but I don’t know how many of my guests would use them. The ones that will, usually tote around a set in their big bags! :P

I think it’s a great idea but I was wondering when / where would you have these out? Like Ms Pumpkin mentioned in her ‘Wedding Bells Blues’ about the parhminas she had for the guests, people just take them, rather than use them. Does anyone have a good plan in place?

considering i just dropped $2 for my pair of flip flops at old navy [that surprisingly match my bridesmaid dress] that’s a great bargain. and don’t worry, i cleared out the stock at 3 different targets for little beach buckets for bridal shower favors. completely worth it :-D

This is something I plan to do for my wedding as well. I didn’t get those cute flip flops in target but in a Dollar store my mom found. I’m looking for a basket to place them and initially my idea was to have it in one that was metal and looked more like a bucket. but this is fine too. Where did you put the basket? Inside the Ladie’s Room?
