I Don’t Frown, I Glow

July 10th, 2007 @ 1:05 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

My makeup lady (whoo hoo, I have a makeup lady!!) told me to have a clean face when I come in. I can use my favorite moisturizer, but other than that, shiny and clean. Favorite moisturizer? Am I supposed to be putting something other than my titanium sunscreen on my face?

Is it wrong to look like this, and be only 27?

z983080

I’m starting to get wrinkles between my eyebrows and eye crinkles. I suppose I should get something to put on my face before bed, or before work.

What moisturizer do you use? Did you apply any before your makeup trial?

I use the moisturizers (day with spf, night, uner eye) from the Karen Wexler line, sold at Bath & Body works. It’s the first one I’ve tried that hasn’t made me brake out.

I use Stila Petal Infusion moisturizer for all over face and Benefit Eyecon for around my eyes. Granted, I don’t use them as often as I should, but it makes a HUGE difference when I do. Everything looks/feels better.

I use the super light moisturizer from Prescriptives (sold at Macy’s and other dept. stores). It is great, and if you go talk to those ladies about what your skin does at different times of the day and different seasons, they will get you set up with the right stuff for you. They also have some super-line decreasing stuff!
Oh, and I read somewhere that you SHOULD NOT wear anything with spf in it for the wedding b/c sunscreen reflects differently when you are taking pictures.
The moisturizer from Prescriptives that I have has spf in it, but they have other ones that don’t.
hth!

I’m a cheap-ass, I use Dove day & night moisturisers. They are not expensive but my skin reacts well to them and they feel really rich and creamy and keep my skin soft (my skin is on the dry side so I need that. I’m not sure I’d use these products if I had a different skin type). The Dove daytime one has SPF 15 and it’s the only sunscreen I’ve ever used on my face that doesn’t make me break out, so I’m all over it. If you wanted to avoid sunscreen for photos, you could use the nighttime one during the day - I’ve done so before with no ill effects!

I love the Olay Definity line, but it’s really emollient so it may not be for everyone. Plus, I wear Neutrogena Dry Touch 55 every single day.

I use a moisterizer day and night. I’ve been using the same ones since I was 20 because I feel that prevention is always easier then correction. So, I use Estee Lauder DayWear for my face and Estee Lauder ReNutriv Intensive eyecreme.

DHC

http://www.dhccare.com

I never washed my face (other than scrubbing in the shower) until I was 24 years old. DHC will send you free samples of their stuff…it used to just be their pure soap, and some moisturizers…now they have gone overboard with products. Don’t be alarmed. Just go for the soap, toner and moisturizer package and you will be set!! And read the testimonials…it is good. stuff.

Not to fall into stereotypes, but as an Asian girl, I use Shiseido skincare. It’s very gentle and has worked for me for ~4 years. I used Oil of Olay for a couple years and I really felt the difference with Shiseido–smoother skin. Clarins is also great…but it was pricier. The one thing my mom told me time and time again is that if you splurge on anything makeup-y, splurge on skin care. She uses La Prairie which is really expensive, but then again she has very few wrinkles…could also be her oily skin.

That is such a cute dog!!

I use Aveeno for day and night, and I love them. The one I put on in the morning has SPF 15. I used the Dove moisterizers for a while and liked them too.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream. It will give you another boost of sunblock, smooth all your face creases and seriously - my face has been glowing since i started using it a few months ago. Check on amazon for a good deal for a two pack. You only need to use a little bit!

Also agree with Laura S, I use Dove energy glow night cream. Don’t have buy the spensive stuff.

Forgot to mention that if you start using moisturizer, start now because you don’t want to be trying stuff a month before the wedding!

I use a moisturizer too (sephora), but philosophy hope in a jar is amazing stuff- after a few days, i really notice my face looks younger. I’m not that old, but the few little creases i’ve got disappear!

Kiehls Sodium PCA Oil-Free during the day and Clinique Continuous Rescue at night. Both are light and don’t make me break out but are still yummy and moisturizing. You’ve GOT to wear moisturizer, Miss Kiwi!! Cute doggie, btw.

I use Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream right now because my skin gets really dry in the winter and I am still using it up. It lasts forever, didn’t make my skin breakout but still felt very rich, and isn’t greasy unless you use too much. Its a little bit heavy now that its 97 degrees and humid where I am though, so take that into consideration. Last summer I used their Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 and loved it. I used to put it into the fridge so it was cold when I got off the beach. If you want one w/o sunscreen for the day, they also make it without.

I have never been really good at using moisturizer, but I saw Jergen’s Natural Glow Face Daily Moisturizer on sale about a month ago and decided to try it out. So far, I really love it. It’s lightweight (not as lightweight as SOME, but I still like it), it’s SPF 20, and it gives me a really light glow that just looks heathly looking. I use the “designed for fair skin tones” one, and it’s not at all orange-y or fake looking, just looks a little sunkissed. I would definitely reccommend it.

I like Oil of Olay, Neutragena, and Philosophy (hope in a jar is awesome!). Definitely start now Miss Kiwi - specifically I think eye creams are a must for prevention, I started seeing little crinkly lines under my eyes, so I started using eye cream, I’ve definitely noticed a difference.

Sometimes wrinkles in the eye/eyebrow area can be aggravated by squinting, so make sure your glasses Rx is current, too. A lot of times we don’t even realize we are squinting.

moisturizer? i’m with you miss kiwi, wha?

actually you’re ahead of me, i don’t even put sunscreen on. BAD ME! especially out here in CA, when you’re always out in the sun.

i see there are a lot of suggestions out here… i guess i should grow up and try them.

i’ve used expensive department store brand moisturizers (chanel, lancome, shiseido, benefit, etc) , but the moisturizer i use right now puts all of those to shame. i have a friend that is a dermatologist and he said that oil of olay’s REGENERIST line is the best product out there. so, before my may wedding i started to use the regenerist serum on my face after cleansing in the morning and the night cream on my face before i slept. it completely changed the surface of my skin. now my mom and all her friends stopped using their expensive moisturizers and have switched to using the regenerist line.

i use the regenerist eye cream in the morning and at night. it’s a pain, but i’m not getting any younger. started to notice wrinkles near my eyes too. blah.

Ha ha! When I had my make up trial, I came in with make-up on, dirty hair, and my hamburger that I hadn’t been able to eat because of rushing around all day! (My make-up artist was really sweet about it.)

I use Creme de la Mer, and it is pretty great… but I don’t know if it’s worth the money.

I just started using a few of the Cle de Peau Beaute products that I received as a gift and it feels nice to have a “regiment” but i don’t know if it’s doing anything.

I like “hope in a jar” for my body (i know, it’s for the face) but it really heals my dry and awful skin when I’ve been running around in the sun. It feels nice on the face too. :)

L’Occitane Honey Cream both for day and night. It’s really light and smells great (like honey). intended for sensitive skin. Mine is sensitive combination. I’ve been using it for couple of years now and love it. I feel like I need to start using some anti-wrinkle cream, since my big 30 is around the corner ( next year …ouch).
