Mrs. Kiwi's Picture
Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

I Want It NOW!

I Want It NOW! : wedding dress los angeles Z307452 z307452

I think I should stay away from The Knot. Every day I check in and see what the other November 3 brides are doing, and realize I am perhaps waaaay behind. Then I think, suck it, ladies, I have stuff done too. Like… invitations ordered and um… shoes bought. Then I go into the section for The Dress and get all angry.

I’m a psycho bride who assumed you would get your dress in before other girls do, if you ordered it before they did. I’m seeing brides receiving their dresses almost a year early. I think, “Why the hell didn’t I tell the dress place my wedding was in September?” I’m impatient. I am Veruca Salt. I want a pony. A shiny pony. And I want it before THAT girl gets HER pony, because then I’m better. It’s only fair, I ordered my dress in January, and I get it first. I Want It NOW! : wedding dress los angeles Bitter bitter

I’m really kidding here, but I want my DRESS! I think it’s time I stay away from The Knot, I don’t like the Kiwi that I become when I visit!

Miss Kiwi, I know you from the knot, and I too was impatient about my dress coming in. But then it was done early, and now it is just in my closet, and I am terrified that something is going to happen to it (like the apartment burns, down, etc) between now and when I start my fittings. I’m also a November bride, and am starting to feel like I am lagging big time. Help!

lauren, we must breathe. :) What do you still need to do? I have to get all the dresses for the moms and the MOH, all the suits for the guys, still need to do our tasting, still have to get my wedding band, must actually receive the invites, have my flower trial and pick out my readings and readers. *sigh*

Andrea it’s under my “wedding club boards” and it’s November 2007 brides. There are a ton of different groups!

Miss Kiwi, if it makes you feel any better, my mother still has nothing to wear to our AUGUST 4TH wedding and is being kind of a pill about it. I love her, and I realize that her insecurity about her weight makes her not want to address this issue, but holy cow is she giving me hives or what!?

We still have to do the tasting (which is impossible to schedule because they only do them on weekdays, and we live/work 1.5 hours away from the venue), choose the MOG dress (which I am dreading helping her choose), OOT boxes, music selection, etc. Invites are in production and I am deep in my workout regimen. I am excited for Nov. to be here, but I also am tired of all the last minute plans…. good luck to you Miss Kiwi!

Here is a short cut to some Bridal piece of mind!
Focus on what YOUR wedding vision is Not every ones else’s.

Do some wedding activity every day at the 6th month mark.

Stop asking peoples opinions on your wedding choices.
This just makes you doubt your decisions.

Another vote for peace of mind — or giving those snotty knotties a piece of your mind — whichever works for you!

I never understood why wedding dresses take so long to ship anyways?? Do they really make each dress from scratch from the minute you order it? COME ON!!! I, personally, think it’s all one giant CONSPIRACY from the wedding industry to pressure brides to buy early!!!! …..just my opinion….

Red - more likely its a giant conspiracy to be able to charge those huge “last-minute shipping” charges on all the dresses that people order late.
My sister is getting married next may and all of the shops we went to were like “you need to order in August, okay?”
Ridiculous!
