Finally, what a relief! When I got the word from Peggy that my invitations were done and being shipped overnight, I began tracking FedEx like a stalker. I would refresh a million times just to see where they were. Gosh, FedEx online tracking is the best thing ever for a busy bride! It arrived exactly on time! I even took off work to wait for the package and get some invitations out the door before 5 pm.
While I was waiting for Mr. FedEx to show up, I began watching Big Love on demand. Crazy episode. Do you think Bill will take on a 4th wife? I began dozing off and tweny minutes into my deep slumber, I hear a tap tap tap on my door. AH, I swear mom I only wore ladies underwear…oh, it’s FedEx! My invitations are here! Yeah! My invitations are here! Mr. FedEx asked, why are you so excited? You don’t even know what it is yet?
The nerve! “THEY’REMYWEDDINGINVITATIONS!” I was actually jumping up and down and clapping as I said that! Please, take me out now!
Anyway, without further ado, here they are:

As soon as I had that package in my hands, I was ready to go. The night before I cleaned my dining table to make sure dirt didn’t rub off on to the invitations. I would rewash my hands before handling them again, especially since the outside of the box was filthy.

Here are all the pieces. Clockwise from top: Outer envelope with our return address in flat gold ink. Invitation in gold thermography, border flourish on both edges. RSVP envelope in flat gold ink with our names and address. RSVP card with light green flat ink background and gold ink thermography text. Reception card in gold thermography. Direction card and map with light green flat ink background and gold ink thermography text. Fabric inner envelope that my mom sewed.
Right away, I assembled one and took it to the post office to have it weighed. It was just under .51 cents! woohoo! But the teller said they are “kinda puffy” and with the new stamp prices, “they” are a little more rigid about the rules. Some would consider my invitation a parcel! The teller instructed me to use the new 58 cents wedding stamps and bring the invitations back to him and he would personally run them through! Thank you!
With our Weddingbee t-shirts on, we were ready to rock! The invitation is gently tacked onto the inside of the fabric envelope using glue dots. This was Mr. Snow Pea’s task. He was very patient and put a glue dot on all four corners and evenly pressed it down into the envelope. The enclosures just slip into the pocket on the right.
I began addressing the outer envelopes.
I LOVE this pen! I bought it at Michael’s (ACMoore doesn’t carry it). It’s a gold fine point calligraphy pen. It’s easy to use, not a marker, hardly has an odor, and dries very quickly! It doesn’t bleed or leave an oil stain like some metallic gold stamp inks do. Using a clear ruler, I began addressing the envelopes line by line. I put 2 marks on the ruler so I could easily reference the center area. To keep it straight, I aligned the edge of the ruler with the envelope.
Here you can see a bit of that metallic shine from the gold calligraphy pen.
I inserted all the assembled invitations into the outer envelopes. To try to minimize their “puffiness”, I stacked my textbook on top of them. Mr. Snow Pea’s mama gave me a new gardening book. It served two purposes!
Tomorrow they go to the post office! Now the wedding feels real!
