Yesterday, I had my hair trial and eight hours later, I washed it out. I wish I had somewhere to go last night! Washing out the stylist’s lovely work was like tossing like $85 down the shower drain. Oh well.
During my makeup trial, Nam referred me to Jen and Emy at Umbrella Salon in San Jose. Yesterday I took a trip to the south bay for my very first hair trial. Right after I settled into the salon chair, Jen said to me, “Oh good! You came in with dirty hair!” 
Apparently, the curl will hold a lot better if I don’t wash my hair on the day of the wedding. And I was embarassed that I didn’t have time to wash my hair before my appointment! I guess it was a good thing. 
I gave Jen these pics as hair inspiration:
And after two hours, an entire bottle of hairspray, and a mound of bobby pins, here is Jen’s creation:
Jen told me I have tons of hair! And that it would look even better if I purchased extensions to lengthen the back. They don’t sell them at Umbrella Salon, but there is a small shop nearby that sells wigs and extensions called Yong’s Fashion Wigs. She also told me not to get synthetic hair because it can’t be curled.
I think she did a fabulous job! What do you think?
Alexandra Bridal in SF (where I purchased my dress) is having an accessories event through tomorrow (July 14th). I have an appointment today so maybe I’ll find a few hairclips for the back of my hair and a headband for the front.

Love it! I was wondering why are you doing your trial so early? Was it so you could shop around just in case you didn’t like the first results?
Miss Butterscotch - Yup! you got it right. I did it early so I could schedule more with others in case I didn’t like it.
Also, I actually was going to book a stylist at my regular salon, but she ended up being booked for two weddings on my wedding day already! It seems makeup/hair people book up really fast in the bay area.
But it ended up working out for the best since I really like what Jen did with my hair.
i love umbrella san jose! i got an updo there once that was to die for….all i said was “audrey hepburn” and wooooow. i wish i could remember the name of the girl who did it.

gorgeous, perfect, beautiful. i don’t think you need the extensions. i love how free form it looks. not too structured and stiff, like lots of “wedding hair” i’ve seen.
Super gorgeous, Miss Eggplant! Your hair looks thick and lush with the waves (and entire can of hairspray). I also vote “no” on the extensions - go with what God gave ya.

Your hair looks beautiful! And I think it would be fine without extensions. The only thing that sort of bothered me (and it’s not even my hair haha) is your left side, where your ear is sticking out. I think more of your hair should be pulled back like in that 3rd pic. OR a little more hair should be let down to cover your ear entirely, because it actually looks cute from the front without pulling that “extra” section back!

They told me about not washing my hair — yadda, yadda. Turns out we went out with the bridal party for a rehearsal dinner after party, so hair was smoky, so of course, had to wash my hair 8 hours before getting it done. No regrets. Smelled way nicer.

i love umbrella! ive heard wonderful things about emy and ive had khoi cut my hair before. i just wish i could afford to have them cut my hair all the time!
Your hair looks great - I did my practice 3 months early too, but that’s because our wedding is 7 hours from where we live now, and we didn’t know when else we’d be visiting my parents/that area before the wedding.

I love the way your hair looks. It’s a beautiful style. I thought about doing that with my hair but my hair is so flat that I just don’t think it will as soft and natural as the way yours look. I thnk you made a very good choice!
