Hair Inspiration

July 16th, 2007 @ 2:12 pm by Mrs. Peppermint

With my hair trial looming ahead (next weekend!!), what better thing to do than spend my weekend searching for inspiration?? In true Peppermint fashion, I stayed up way past my bedtime compiling a ‘packet’ to give show some of my ideas (and also to help me figure out what I might want!) I’m basically between two different styles: an updo (most likely a low, loose bun) or a half-updo. I want a romantic look that is loose, possibly with some curls. I’ve been working on growing my hair out (it’s just past my shoulders and should grow about two inches by December–see my former Samson & Delilah post). While I’ve compiled a lot of photos (more than I’d like to admit…), I’m pretty open to whatever the hairstylist suggests.

Something to consider is that I’ve already picked my veil and a hair comb. A gorgeous cathedral length veil (from Claire Pettibone) with a simple ribbon edge (much like the one below that I saw featured on the knot). I’ll only be wearing the veil for the ceremony, so I’m looking for a style that can work with a veil as well as stand alone once the veil is off.

Here are some photos that have inspired me to try an updo/low bun:

Below are my favorite half-updo pictures:

I really like this style as well (found on the knot in their hair gallery). I’m not sure how it would stay in place over the evening (or if it could even work with a veil), but I love the loose, romantic feel…

What sort of style are you going for? Did you wear a veil–and if so, what style did you wear with it? Any suggestions going into the hair trial??

I’m getting married on the beach (no veil) so I have a ‘do selected for up and down. I’d prefer down but with the wind (and heat!) factor I’m not sure that’s doable. If up I’m using orchids in my hair :)

I actually used the first picture in your group of updos/low buns as an example for the stylist of what I wanted when I was in a recent wedding - and it turned out awesome!! I wanted something soft and romantic, like you said, not so slick and tight & that’s exactly what I got. I’m definitely considering it for my own wedding.

like the very top middle and left. also the half up half down. you’ve got a lot of choices there and i don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

I know that I want a half up/down do. I know this because my fiance wants me to wear my hair down, and I want to do something that he likes. So, I’ve decided that even though my wedding is a year and a half a way, to appease him and make it easier to wear a veil, to go half up and half down.

betting_im_not : the combs were recently featured in the new issue of In Style Weddings. They are by Paris. I found them online at Perfect Details
