I had my makeup trial on Saturday with Michelle Miracle. Isn’t that the coolest name ever? It inspires me to feel pretty. Anyway, I had torn out a bunch of pictures that were my idea of what I wanted. I don’t know why I bothered, to tell you the truth. I had a bunch of the same pictures of the exact same thing!! All smoky eyes and light pink/nude lips. With my very dark hair I wanted something to balance my face out, to make me not so white.
Here is an inspiration photo. Unfortunately, my eyes aren’t as lovely!
My dad and I showed up at Michelle’s home, which was about 7 minutes from my house. She’s currently building a studio in El Segundo, but I am totally happy that it isn’t done yet, because that would have taken us a little longer to get there, and I would have had to wake up earlier.
Immediately I noticed her own makeup, and how beautiful her eyes were. That gave me hope, that she could rescue my own eyes from the dark circled caves in which they reside.
Michelle has this soothing demeanor, and my comfort level rose. We went over the theme of the wedding, I showed her my pictures of looks I liked, my tiara, my dress shot and various things like that. We decided on a smoky brown shadow/liner with a pink lip.
Here is the before photo. This is with no makeup at all, not even a base (I apologize for any faces I make, I’m so not comfortable getting my picture taken). Notice the dark circles?
We did one look, and when we went outside to look at the real lighting, my dad thought I needed more smoke. She agreed and we trooped back in for some more makeup.
Here is the inside shot, just after the application. I was a bit concerned with the overwhelming amount of blush, but then Michelle pointed out that I will photograph better with more makeup, and the blush won’t allow my face to wash out.
A closer shot. I really like my lipstick color. My hair is just pinned up to simulate my day of ‘do. And yes, I DO have a large face.
My lips aren’t crooked, it’s a gloss reflection.
This is a side shot, I had been considering fake lashes, but I think mine will suffice.
Here’s my outside shot, to get a clearer look, as our pictures will be taken at about this time. Then again, it’s so bright out you can’t see what the heck it all looks like because I’m squinting! Amazingly, this is the least squintiest one we took. A chick on a bike really enjoyed the show.
And this is eight hours later, Dad and I had lunch, watched “Knocked Up” and went shopping. I need a reapplication of lip gloss, but overall it came out nicely.

Now, I must say it was great getting pampered. Although it was a bit odd having lunch all tarted up in wedding-day makeup, I wasn’t about to take it off!
Michelle and I even worked out a scheme to get my MOH to stop wearing that damn terracotta lipstick she’s worn for a million years. Now I’m not the bad guy saying, “Yeaaaah, that’s really not a good look for you (or anyone)”.
I had a great time and I’m really thrilled to work with Michelle on our wedding day!
