Mrs. Radish's Picture
Mrs. Radish, Chicago/Syracuse Age and Occupation: 27, Executive Assistant/Journalism Student/Musician Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Anthropologist/Musician Engagement Date: December 20, 2005 Wedding Date: August 18, 2007 Blogging Since: June 26, 2007 Venue: The Wellington House in Fayetteville, NY About Me: Mr. Radish and I are both from upstate New York, so we are planning a wedding in Syracuse from about 700 miles away. When I’m not obsessing about our wedding I play the cello in my band (which Mr. Radish is in too), read as much as I can, sleep even more, travel whenever possible, and try to find time to have fun with my friends. I’m also working on finishing up my journalism degree with a concentration in environmental reporting and I’m the VP of my campus Amnesty International chapter… so I’m a pretty busy bee.
About Mrs. Radish

The Radishes just returned this week from a busy, busy week in Upstate New York. We got a TON of stuff accomplished. Such as…

  • We had two showers - one girls only shower at my Mom’s, and one co-ed shower that his parents hosted
  • We met with the our Priest to finalize all the paperwork, etc., and we also met with the church organist/musical director and selected our ceremony music
  • We met with the chef and the event coordinator at our reception site and we set up our menu
  • We had our engagement photos taken by our wonderful photographer, Tim Forbes
  • We met with our DJ and went over what we do/don’t want him to play
  • We met with our videographer
  • I had a hair trial and a makeup trial
  • Me and my sister started making the bouquets and I got all of the necessary supplies that she needed to finish them

All in all it was a very productive trip and I dare say that we even had a little bit of fun. Unfortunately, I did get a speeding ticket in Ohio on the way there (damn air radar) and the 15-hour drive home was brutal… I think I’m still recovering from it. Nothing some hardcore napping and shouldn’t fix, though. I should be just like new in no time.

Here is a sneak preview of our engagment photo session…

Sucks about the speeding ticket… I got one myself recently so I feel your pain! Glad you got so much done on your trip though… hope to hear about the showers!

I LOVE the photo you included, it’s a really lovely shot and I like the way they cropped it. Looks like a promo shot for a movie, very professionally done. You have a good photographer!

I was trying to figure out what I like so much about that photo, and it’s exactly what Laura said; looks like a movie poster. Very, very hip and natural. Awesome photography!

HamiHarri — Yeah, I love his stuff too! He was really nice and fun to work with as well. How come you guys didn’t end up using him?

Miss Radish-

I’m getting married in Syracuse in October! How did you end up with a wedding there? Is Mr. Radish from there? I was excited to see my hometown listed!
Where is your reception? I’m getting married at St. Matthew’s in E. Syracuse and reception at Arrowhead Lodge in Brewerton.
Fun! Good luck with the rest of the planning!

Eilis —

Wow, small world! I am originally from Utica and Mr. Radish is from Potsdam, so Syracuse is kind of a central location for our families (plus my parents moved there a few years ago).

Believe it or not we are getting married at St. Matthew’s too! Our reception is the Wellington House in Fayetteville. Have you ever been there?

How funny :)

Miss Radish-

I have heard of the Wellington House, but haven’t been there. I grew up in the Verona area (VVS grad!) and my fiance grew up in Fayetteville. My father grew up right down the street from St. Matthew’s on Yates Street. When I went to college at SU my parents bought the Yates St. house from my Grandfather and I lived there all through college and grad school. Consequently, St. Matthew’s is an important part of my history–so many family members have been married there!
Anyway, totally small world! We’ve got Duane Sauro doing our photos…ever heard of him? He’s a family friend and takes gorgeous shots. Your engagement pictures are awesome!

How was the organist at St. Matt’s? I was kind of bummed about all the strict rules, but he seemed like a pleasant nut when I talked to him on the phone. We meet him over labor day weekend…

Forgot to mention…I live in NC now, so I’m planning things from out of town too. I know those whirlwind weekends all too well!
