No Work For Me!

July 18th, 2007 @ 12:05 pm by Mrs. Onion

No work for me today (shh — don’t tell). But seriously, today I have my second dress fitting, then I’m heading to the make-up counters at Bloomingdale’s to scope the sales ladies and see whose make-up I like. Then I will ask her to “make me up” as my make-up trial in Vermont was a disaster as you all saw. Then I’m going to run and get my hair trimmed (I’ve been growing it out for almost a year I’m embarrassed to admit) and blown out so it looks fab for my boudoir photo session at night with Tony Yang. Yup, you heard me! But Tony calls the session “intime” — classier I guess.

No Work For Me! : wedding new york photography Tonyyan

I discovered Tony months ago thanks to Mrs. Ant’s many posts of her wedding photos. So a little nervous but excited, I’m off tonight to his studio. I am terrible at lying (this is Mr. Onion’s wedding gift — again shhh don’t tell) so I told him I’m “doing wedding things with my NYC bridesmaid that he can’t know about!” How’s that for an alibi?! Haha.

Wish me luck. If I’m not too timid, and they are not too scandalous I MIGHT share an image or two.

Can I ask how much your session will cost, and how far in advance did you book this? I’m curious about doing this, but worry I may have waited to long.

Going to bloomie’s was the best thing ever for me. I had had a makeup consultation from a well known wedding makeup artist but hated it. She gave me a shopping list, so I went to grab some foundation at bloomie’s and the girl went to town with me and did such an amazing job that I hired her on the spot for my wedding. Seriously, you don’t have to hire a well-known makeup artist…the girls at the makeup counters know what they’re doing, too and won’t charge and arm and leg.

I must be out of the loop, because this is the first I have heard of intiime or boudoir photography. I am interested to know if other brides have done this and what their men thought. How was your session? Were you comfortable? Did they provide props…and anything else you have to say!

That is so cool! I never knew anything about people doing this! But I like the idea. I don’t know how I would be though doing those things in front of a photographer - I would probably think I looked good and then the photographer would be trying not to laugh :)

I’m wondering where you would keep something like this. Sure, it’s nice to have around for him, but I guarantee you someone would find it and think I did porn with some shady photographer.
