Round 2 (Make-Up That Is)

July 18th, 2007 @ 6:01 pm by Mrs. Onion

So after my 2nd dress fitting this morning, I went to Bloomingdale’s to check out some make-up. Thanks to my friend who was kind enough to come with me, we decided to tell them I would be singing at a benefit, not that we were shopping for bridal make-up. First I went to the Clinique counter and found a PERFECT foundation (superbalanced makeup - color = alabaster). I never wear make-up and I thought I’d be looking for a tinted moisturizer, but this really feels great on and is great coverage. Then we went to the MAC counter looking for a concealer (bought MAC’s studio finish, NW25) for my serious circles and I liked what the girl at the MAC counter did for me (liquid eye liner — very bold) for tonight’s boudoir photo session with Tony Yang, so I’m going to leave it on.

What do you think of this for the wedding? Too bold? I kinda like it and it photographed well, but up close it’s certainly not “soft.” I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too!

In natural light:

I don’t know why I purse my lips — I do this a lot when people try to take pictures of me. I guess I’m a little uncomfortable “fake smiling.” OK, off I go to meet Tony. Can’t be late and miss out on any daylight. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I am so jealous of your eyebrows. Does that make me shallow? Or just creepy?

Oh, this looks MUCH better! I think it would be great for your wedding makeup, you look so beautiful and honestly, the eyeliner doesn’t look THAT bold in photos! If there was anything I’d do differently for my wedding makeup, it would probably be more eyeliner. I also thought it just seemed like way too much but in photos you can barely see what I ended up with. But this looks much more suited to your face/coloring AND your dress/wedding style!

WAY BETTER!!!

I actually think you can “have your cake and eat it too” though… just use a powder eyeliner and have it applied with a slanted eyeliner brush, and blend it a bit to give it a slightly smokier look. It will look equally pretty but a little softer if that’s what you’re after.

Having said that, I think it looks great as is, so if you decide to simply replicate this look exactly, it will be beautiful!! And it clearly looks good in photos.

yes, your complexion is really nice and i love the eyeshadow! if you want to go darker on the lipstick, i think it would work too. but this is such an improvement!

is your wedding in the evening? if it is, keep the liquid liner…it’s a little better for the evening look. i like that she went with more browns rather than pinks.

i had to re-read your previous post and definitely agree this is much better. :) how about red lips (not pink?) on your wedding day for that 40’s look? love your little white lie about singing in a show, btw.

the make-up looks great. You look so polished. I agree that the liquid eyeliner would look great if you are having an evening wedding. In the pictures you posted, it doesn’t look too bold to me.

Much, much better. BTW, you look beautiful in your profile pic and it looks like you barely have any make up on, so I think “less is more” definitely works for you.

Please keep us updated about your session!

You look awesome! These colors are definitely better on you than the pinks from the first trial! :)
