He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. I have a passion for all things "cool, cute and quirky" and I enjoy video games, reading blogs (WeddingBee, trashy celeb, consumer & political) and crafting in my spare time, if I have any!

About Mrs. Lemon

For The Guy Who Has Everything!

July 19th, 2007 @ 2:25 pm by Mrs. Lemon

Getting a gift for Mr. Lemon is a really difficult task since he is the one that is usually bestowing them upon others. He gives gifts to people around the clock for the silliest reasons, but it’s a trait that I adore about him… and not just because I’m the recipient of lots of exotic sodas and video games. He loves gifting… which made the whole wedding present issue such a to-do!

He doesn’t wear a watch, or cologne, or cufflinks… or anything really traditional of the sort. He buys himself (or me) everything that he really really wants… so there’s not a whole lot left to go out and get. So… I decided to go creative and had something made just for him:

CIMG1206-1

I solicited a few artists that I had seen in some local shows at Gallery 1988 to see if any would be interested in creating a painting for me of Stitch and Tinker Bell. You see… my nickname is Tink (my parents rarely ever call me by my first name) and Mr. Lemon is quite infatuated with Stitch. His impression of the little alien is impeccable, and our dog Memphis resembles him as well. We also have a small collection of pop artwork and Disney art, so I figured this would fit in well with everything else. The artist, Rex Hackleberg, did an amazing job and it turned out perfectly… too bad I’m not as stacked as Tink is in this piece!

Mr. Lemon loved it and I think I picked well! :) So if you can’t find the perfect thing out there for your beau, be creative and find someone who can create it for you!

That’s perfect! So cute.
My fiance is the same way about gifts - he loves giving them, and anything he really wants for himself, he’ll eventually buy (usually holding off until right before his birthday or christmas when I finally conclude that he won’t get it). He, too, also does an uncanny Stitch impression.

Teehee, I LOVE it. I need to be a little more creative with gifts. I love stitch, but DH is not enthralled by a whole lot….

Cool idea. I had something made for my DH, too, something no one else would have that suited our own inside joke.

[…] him is really for both of us! In much the same way that traditional presents would not work for Mr. Lemon, Mr. Pumpkin does not wear suits and so would have no use for cuff links, and he has promptly lost […]

Congratulations and welcome home!

Pretty-please will you share your Jones soda templates? Or, will you tell us what font you used for the ‘JONES’ name and ‘pure cane soda’?

Thank you!
Christy

So perfect! What you describe about Mr. Lemon is true from Mr. WSU–he’s so freakin generous and always thinking of others. He actually DID need a watch, so that’s what he got for our wedding, though. ;-)
